T6 centre (Soviet)


Mike has divided his panzers into 3 groups what enables him to constantly outflank my positions. I am giving up ground faster than intended.

T6 south (Soviet)


Painful developments. Paper thin defences has been breached and several quality units have been semi-encircled. Failed counter-attack sealed their fate.

Unfortunately I still can't rail excess of troops to Moscow or Leningrad area - Donbas industry has not been evacuated.

T7 north (Soviet)



German panzers are slowly but steady pushing their way through my defences, so soon I am afraid I will have to move Independent Army to the south and help against main threat.

T7 centre (Soviet)


Another defensive position have been compromised. I find it really hard to stop German mobile units under AltCV rules.

T7 south (Soviet)


I need to hold Stalino for 3-4 turns, but unfortunately I don't think I will be able to do it.

T8 north (Soviet)


I am genuinely surprised and relieved, that Mike decided to change direction of his attack from north to east.

T8 centre (Soviet)


Transitory turn. Germans creeping ever closer towards Moscow and Tula and I do not have enough units to form reliable defensive position. It is especially bad in the souther part between Kaluga and Orel.

T8 south (Soviet)


Test will come next turn. I have strong and numerous forces here, but there are too many potential avenues of attack, so I don't see being able to evacuate whole industry.

T9 north (Soviet)


Intensive fighting continues. I don't expect to be able to rail more reinforcements north, so I guess my line will collapse sooner or later.

T9 centre (Soviet)


Mike managed to cross river north of Rzhev what forced me to fall back to next defensive line. THis is very unfortunate because I will spread my defences far and wide giving him opportunity to choose most promising direction of attack.

Thing went out of control here and I can't do anything about it without compromising my defences elsewhere.

First German thrust towards city have been dealt with, but second will be much harder to fend off - numerous enemy units to the north force me to divert troop from Stalino's western approaches.

At the beginning I have to say I found new CV very misleading.

It will be, because all that you have "learned" with old CV should be immediately forgotten as it can be harmful in the new system. Unfortunately there is no other way than playing more with the new CV and less with the old CV. After a while you will again have a proper "feeling" about what can be achieved by given combination of CV:CV. Attacking must be done at higher ratios now than before (no longer you can win 90% of the time when attacking with Soviets having 1:1 ratio of on-map CVs, most of the time you can expect your final CV in combat to be lower than starting CV - as it should be with elements properly scored and then dropping from combat due to losses).

What is your strategy for saving industry?

I was trying to divert panzers from attacking main industrial areas towards less important targets, but Mike persistently pushes towards producion centres. So now I am just postponing inevitable and try to save whatever I can from both Stalino and Tula.

Maybe HQBU now still too strong, Sov morale too low. Ya think, maybe.

1.08.01 has weaker HQBU, and 1.08.02 might have it weaker still. Seeing panzers at Voronezh on turn 9 is not the goal

You should have seen what this panzer group have done the turn after Voronezh ))). I agree HQBU, is to strong now.

Giving up the Dnepr line near Kiev was a questionable call. That opened the door to what has happened here. Are there many Soviet units being pocketed? Seems not to be the case, just the Soviet side giving up a lot of ground.
