Well...

It has been quiet around this scenario for some time now. I however have some (for me) exciting news. The scenario is nearing an alpha test stage. That is a stage where we (the creators) can try to play against each other and see for ourselves if things are working. I imagine that a beta is soon in the works ...

So far the AI is working, although it cannot do everything that I want it to (yet).

Good news Ernie, looking forward to it.

The game I was thinking about was more of a post nuclear war game with the different portions of the USA being partitioned into factions along similar geographic lines. As I recall it was more about the economics of restarting a broken society.

" ....its been a grueling six and a half months for the United States of America. After declaring war against the Confederate States of America, in 1933, and some very promising initial successes things have ground to a standstill"

At least thats how it feels in this Alpha testgame against Lion of Judah, who is playing the CSA and Texas. I am playing the USA. California and Mexico are AI played.

This is how things are near Washington DC/Richmond:

Just a small update, with the purpose of telling you all that alpha testing is going well, and things have panned out very well. I have still no deadline for when this mod is ready, but, i think it could be sooner rather than later. Of course it all depends on how well we get the backstory written down, and told, to the players, and how Beta testing goes.

If you are interested in Beta testing the Scenario, you might want to send me a pm, and my group of designers, and I will consider you.

Ok, after much dredging of the memory banks, I've found it.

I am grateful that I found this, I am not just reconstructing nonsense memories. Whew !

"After the Holocaust".

Looks like fun.

Please consider releasing the map as a standalone (if this is feasible with the scenario editor) it would be kind of fun to random-style 'grow from one town' maps on! [:)]

I think you need to talk to Lion of Judah about releasing the map as a standalone. That being said it is not impossible. But you will get some of what you want anyway, as the mod/scenario, will include 2 different modes. One mode is a sandbox type mode, while the other is a scenario/situation. So you will get at least some of what you are looking for :)

Can't wait to see the leaders for this scenario. Will us Californians get a Governor Arnie that needs no units to lead, but kicks ass all by himself ?

Afraid Arnie was quite the babe when this game is happening. But yeah, i can imagine how to program him :) A leader that gets a card that causes any unit to be destroyed, at no cost, and without taking damage himself... awesome! :)

On a more serious note, Bwheatley has helped me make weather for the scenario, so this will be the first scenario I am doing that has weather. Not alone does it have weather, but i made landscape graphics for the AltGfx terrain set, and that went pretty well too. Until now there has been no weather for this graphics set, because of this. It is why the AltGfx Random game is without a weather option.

The weather however was bugged, and had been for the better part of 5 months. I found the bugs, corrected it, which took a few hours of bughunting, and then it went pretty well from there. A big thanks to Bwheatley for his contribution!

A look at some weather in the Northeastern part of the map. (Washington, Richmond, New York... and thereabout)
