Achhhhhtung! I've been invaded!

As promised, here is the defence of Italy as it was before the WA violated me.

Basically the plan is to put a German infantry division in every port.

With a top down approach..put the paratroopers and a couple strong units every few hexes behind the coast between the Northern Garrison line, and the line of forts I have stretched across Italy by Naples.
Spread the Italians (broken down) into every hex on the coast, and a couple hexes deep. Hopefully recon will make him think they are German..although with the intensive bombing we were engaged in, I am sure he had enough recon to know the difference.

I put all the combat motorized units along the Garrison line (for Garrison VP's) but ready to roll south if needed...

Netherlands etc....are covered with extra units, but sitting on rail yards so I can switch them to rail mode and move them to where I need them.

Oh..some of the combat units were moved to airfields to provide flak to help against the bombing.

As I just got home from work, and have to work one more 12 hour night shift, you will have to wait until tomorrow to see where I got invaded. [;)]

And that is just another reason I prefer to invade the mainland at The Heel.

Nope..it ended with the allies surrendering after being held up in Brittany and the next invasion between Dieppe and Etaples in the process of being crushed in September 1944.

His (much earlier) invasion of northern Italy just south of the Garrison line caused the Italians to surrender (all that yellow came off the map) but my mobile units just north of the Garrison line were able to drive down and cut hold his invasion in check.

As for the air war, I had lost almost all my bombers, and both sides lost close to 2000 aircraft on the ground. Corsica was a huge fight (air wise) and I made it hard for him to base any aircraft on the island to support his invasion.

The score was -400 or so, and I doubt it would have gone far enough for an Axis Major or an Allied minor. It was probably going to end an Axis Minor.
