I didn't like the movie it seemed too contrived to make some artificial point. I've almost completely forgotten about it.

I did like the movie called "The Thin Red Line" which everybody else seemed to not like.


I found Jarhead tedious too. And like you I liked TTRL but don't know many others that do! [:D]

Re. the latter, I didn't mind the philosophical narration (as many did), I thought it gave a fascinating counterpoint to the action and griminess being portrayed. And I thought the extended sequence on the assault on the hilltop bunkers was very well done, the viewer got a feeling for how difficult it must have been to make an assault across minimal cover on a position like that.

Definitely, you are not alone. The Thin Red Line is one of my favourite war movies, maybe the second after Coppola's masterpiece Apocalypse Now. [&o]
That extended sequence on the hilltop bunker is quite good. [:)]
