PS West Front scenarios files #8-9 have the prefix "Pbz" instead of "PzL".

Duh! [:(]

Correct files attached this time for PL situations #8 and #9. Please download again! [:)]

Thanks Zap. It is indeed likely some of these situations are better balanced than the others. I have not seen any articles on PB situation balance, but I know there's one covering all the original PL situatios. I am talking about the original board games, and as I recall the article was published in Avalon Hill 'General' magazine.

Panzer Leader situations are discussed in detail in Avalon Hill General Volume 16 Number 3. Download link for those interested can be found here: http://www.ahgeneral.org/index/ahgenv16.htm

Download is 400 MB as it is a high quality scan so be aware [:)]

EDIT: I am a fool for PB/PL art, so if you think I was omitting a chance to display some of it here well think again. [8D]

PL situations are discussed in this article:

And here's the original situation card for Situation #13: The Fortified Goose Egg. A typical PB/PL scenario, where victory conditions depend on number of (town) hexes controlled. Another common victory level determinator was the amount of enemy counters destroyed or own counters remaining in the map board.

All these make for that much more difficult conversions to JTCS. My kudos to Alan for his consideration in preserving these situations as close to their original format where possible.

Again, see HERE for all his design notes on Panzer Leader situation conversions. There is a similar posting regarding the Panzerblitz conversions. They make for an interesting read for sure [:)]

As far along as games may ever go, there will always remain a part of me that thinks of PL and PB (in that order) as what games look, feel, and play like.

Thanks very much for these.

Best,

I am uploading the PL situation conversions at a rate of two scenarios per week (more or less), as among other things I am running each scenario through the automated test script Berto's made available. So it takes a while.

But what better way to run down the clock towards the 2016 release of MCS 3.0, where all these scenarios will be available within the game itself.

And who knows, with the new Zoomed-In 2D view available, all going well there just might be a Panzer Leader Counter Art mod available to play them in a proper manner.

Are these "conversions" simply from the old Game Depot format to some new Blitz format, or are the individual scenarios updated to 2.02?

A counter art mod would be great! [8D]

These are for most part the very same Game Depot files that have become unavailable, but with a twist they are tested to run with 2.02. Some of them have been tweaked upon by Alan though, to take advantage for the new OOBs in the later versions of the game.

Regarding a counter art mod, well, I have asked around for permissions to use certain graphics to come up with a PB / PL Counter art mod for 3.0. So far so good, maybe come autumn I can make a post showing something concrete [;)]

For now though, "Middle East" is the priority. Hence, I have struggled a bit to keep the steady flow of these scenarios being uploaded, but hopefully I can catch up again soon.
