Ok, Tazak, that's it, I'm taking my toys and going home, with the sweat and cussing trying to build an OPFOR showing East German and Soviet identifiers on the unit counter, I'm going to put my Warsaw Pact Database on hold until I get a copy of your database.

No argument with the AT7/PKM machinegun/AT Platoon of the MRC. I was talking about the AT Platoon at the MRB level (SPG-9 and AT3/AT4 squads). I get the rationale of splitting the AGS-17 squads among the MRCs and making them organic. My point on those guys was the game mechanics.

Yea game mechanics in terms of a few transport losses and the entire company is transformed to a 'leg' movement, not much that can be done without either putting 1-2 'spare' vehicles to absorb losses or reduction in the amount of INF runners. although here's an off the cuff idea, combining the support sections into a single 'runner' e.g. the 3 MMG teams (with 2 men each) combined into a single MMG team with 3 MMG (and 6 men) - this would provide some relief to the problem while still putting out as much lead. AGL would/could work the same but I'd be cautious about doing the same to ATGMs without a better understanding of the relation between firing unit weapon/ammo and target selection
On a slightly different note, the BTR Bn ATK platoon is getting knocked up to 6 AT4 launchers (high readiness BTR units recievced additional allocation of 2 AT3/4 launchers, and I think WGSF was one of the if not the highest readiness force within the soviet OOB at the time).

Reworked the BTR Battalion slightly so it matches FM100-2 better
Soviet >Battalion HQ, >Motor Rifle Company x 3, >Mortar Battery, >Anti-Tank Platoon, >AA Section x 3 totalling:
48 x BTR-70,
2 x BTR-60PU,
4 x Headquarters,
27 x Mechanized Rifle,
6 x 30mm AGS GL,
6 x Heavy MG,
9 x AT-7 Saxhorn,
8 x 2B9 Vasilek,
8 x GAZ-66,
1 x UAZ Jeep,
3 x 73mm SPG-9 RCL,
6 x AT-4 Spigot,
9 x SA-14 Gremlin
So 1 BTR over and 1 BTR (command i.e BTR60PU) short so as soon as I figure out which one that'll be corrected. As I posted above high readiness BTR units received 2 additional AT3/AT4 and 1 SPG-9 which has already been incorporated. Other fairly significant change is an increase by 2 tubes of the Bn Mtr battery.
Onto the BMP Bn now

And updated Regimental HQ - BMP versions shown, for BTR version replaced the BMP with a BTR
Last word on the BTR regiment incase anyone was wondering, when playing with limited orders using the BTR regiment you get 2 additional orders but have somewhere in the region of 10 extra 'units' to order about. All over means a reduction in available command points compared to the original OOB.

BMP Bn now complete
Main changes
MG platoon (per MRC) increased to 6 MG
Bn Mtr Bty increased to 8 tubes (using MT-LB to match BMP cross-country abilities)
Soviet >Battalion HQ, >Motor Rifle Company (BMP) x 3, >Mortar Battery, >AA Platoon x 3 totaling:
3 x BMP-Ksh,
4 x Headquarters,
42 x BMP-2 [m],
27 x Mechanized Rifle,
6 x 30mm AGS GL,
18 x Medium MG,
8 x 2B9 Vasilek,
8 x MT-LB,
9 x SA-16 Gimlet

I know there are many OOB "sources" out there but I really like seeing this so that users can have an available, hard copy document to reference, even if it might not be 100% accurate.

I don't think 100 percent accurate is possible. Looks good on paper, but when shells fly you take what works, adjust structure to meet missions and no one looks at the template. That said, it is great to have as many of those templates as we can, so scenario designers have a great place to start. I beginning to think for 2.1 that making more, smaller data files for each country with a more detailed OOB limited to the available equipment instead of the current "global" style. Definitely a point of discussion this week at Origins with Rob.

Lead Tank Bn from a Tk Regt/Tk Div
Can't see why the CRP is showing as 'W' rather than 'T' - any suggestions?
I've moved one of the MMG to the FSE otherwise the parent Inf Coy becomes a leg unit and I think it is a better approach than just deleting the MMG (I'll revisit the BTR lead Bn to see if I can do the same).

Something about the code when resolving mode for a mix of tracked (Tk and BMP) and wheeled (BRDM for the NBC Recce) subunits, I reckon. Maybe slowest cross country movement? I am on the wrong laptop to compare.

Yea any suggestions welcome, the 'unit code' lists the tanks first and the BRDM2 last which even if I list it first and the tanks last it still shows as 'W'
The unit is tagged as recce, which I suspect is overriding the tracked/wheeled ratio, its fine if its all tracked but even 1 wheeled unit seems to change from 'T' to 'W'

Almost finished with the core regiments and there's a big difference with runners. Hope to have this finished by the weekend, would like a couple of people to go over it to see if anything is wrong or not working
Compare a Tank Division (without Divisional elements) original TD vs FM100-2-3 TD

Finally done with MRD core regiments
Compare the normal OOB vs FM100-2-3 OOB, 1 TR, 1 BMP regt, 2 BTR regt - no div assets
I just need to look at the divisional HQ & assets but will do those at the weekend as I'm seeing double staring at the data sheets right now (it took over an hour to figure out why the OOB was putting in 2 extra SPA batteries)

Hi Tazak,
Not to go OT, but how do you install it? I've had issues in the past with custom OOB's and nothing shows up in the scenario editor. There was a fix, but I forgot how [&:]

open the game folder
Flashpoint Campaigns Red Storm\Modules\FPRS\Data\Soviet
move the existing Soviet-User file somewhere safe(I do this to avoid sing the wrong user data sheet)
move the new data sheet into the folder
launch the game and goto the scenario editor and select the "Soviet (1979-1989) User"
have fun

Tazak, will look at it this weekend, have a lot of honey-do-list to finish before getting back to the database and will use what you have built in the Warsaw Pact Database.

Thanks Tazak. I was changing the custom file name to "soviet-user" like an idiot. You saved me much hassle. It looks like a nicely balanced database.

Quick update:
didn't get much time at the weekend (damn the wife and to-do-lists [:@])
reworked the layout with stripping out the airborne, thinking I need to reinsert the original OOB into the layout but currently playing around to get it in a logical order (well logical to me)
Regiment sized OOB are under deployed formations
Regimental assets now covers all elements of the regiments from HQs to battalions and supporting elements
renamed Army assets to Army & Front assets (A&FA)
Moved MRD Tank Bn (again) from Divisional HQ to Divisional Assets
Moved attack helicopter regiment from divisional to A&FA
Created a towed mortar battalion under A&FA- this uses 160mm & 240mm mortars that would be found in the high powered arty bde that would normally be a front level asset
extended the available end date for 160mm & 240mm mortar to 1989
Created T80BV - same stats as T80BV(m) but without the ATGM (part of my tank revamp mentioned in first post)
Cleaned up K series of tanks (I forgot to remove 'TLM' from specials while removing ATGM from weapons list)
