Happened to have reloaded it yesterday and the patch on a both lower end (quad core) and higher end (i7) systems. Too many crashes, clunky interface and wobbly editor, and can't hold a candle to the later CMx2 games on a good machine.

Only advantage of the game is you can put an 88 cannon on an armored car if you know what you're doing.

This turned out well. I was also thinking about buying. I have all the combat mission games but I also don't like the Graviteam Star game

I would be interested to hear why you weren't keen on Graviteam Star game. Been on my buy list, low priority, for a long time.

It's similar to the old Combat Mission in that it's not real time and the terrain is based on actual topography of where the combat takes place. I think the AI is far superior to Combat Mission. The graphics in the new update are better than the original but the best thing about this game is the AI. It is based on actual combat doctrine. Especially the Soviet AI, they will attack you based on the way they actually did at that time. It's a bit unnerving to hear hordes of Soviet Infantry screaming and coming out of the woods in human waves if you aren't ready for it. The combat resolution is based on real world environment like Combat Mission where everything is taken into consideration (movement, angle. type of shell, angle of impact...etc).

The campaigns are really good as you need to be careful with what you have as your reinforcements are based on what was available and if you lose too many tanks you have a hard time completing you next mission before you get any reinforcements. There is one campaign that starts at the start of the war and can run through the end...if you last that long. Your troops also receive awards during the campaigns for how they acted in battle (Wound badge, Iron Cross, Order of the Red Star..etc).

It's definitely worth buying. The AI as I said is excellent and you won't be disappointed in that aspect. This game sort of fell by the wayside due to lack of dedicated programmers to continue the updates and upgrades on a continuing basis like some other Matrix games. A few Matrix people have worked on it over the years when they could.

It has a lot of potential for future updates but without dedicated programmers for this game I think they will be few and far between but is really an ecxellent game as it is now.

I totally agree, this is a fantastic Wargame which in my mind has a flavor to it that all other WW2 games lack, and that flavor tastes of historic realism.

You need time to concentrate on it, setting up your forces and checking for the best offensive / defensive ground as bad planning will be brutally punished by the excellent AI.

Im into a random campaign 1st Panzers 41 /44 turn 5 and the maps are a pleasure to play over, the update has improved the graphics which I like very much....Im playing on normal and have had 3 Decisive victories, 1 Marginal and one hurtful Marginal defeat. Im losing about 4 tanks on average every turn and notice that my force pool is getting less the next turns.....Hey this is Russia after all!!....And Im loving it!!!

As I said you need the time commitment and dedication for Panzer Command, and if you are prepared to put the time in ( which I wasn't 100% when it came out due to other commitments BUT I AM NOW[:D] you will be rewarded time and again with each new battle or campaign....of which there are a vast amount and random generated ones too .

I cant speak highly enough of this game and it gives me the feeling of being in command more than any other WW2 Wargame I've ever played ....Its that good IMHO[&o]

We need someone to take up the torch and make the next installment of this game. This one has been on my HD for a long time.

Curious to hear what happened to the added ....what was it programmers? I just reinstalled on a new computer, so far so good on windows 10 64. Got my mods installed and did start a random battle to make sure it would at least start. I'd like to see a new engine and the series carry forward, think a new engine would be needed as this game is all CPU if i remember right. Besides CM and APOS there really isn't anything else out there.

Budd,

Unfortunately it was a case of poor timing. Shortly after joining the team, but of the programmers had significant increases in the time commitment to their paying jobs. As a result they were not able to continue contributing PCO.

thanks
