The DC1 and DC2 maps are much better looking. Why the new uglier map graphics?

The interface is a mess. Unit info is located at the bottom, terrain info at the top.

The unit cards at the bottom also show the terrain graphically. Between the map and the unit cards, I find it pretty easy to see at glance what terrain my units are in.

The map graphics are a little plain but workable. I'd kinda like to see something similar to this from the Alt Map Graphics game type of Advanced Tactics Gold.

I'm generally a graphics fanatic, and I certainly won't turn down a flashier version of the map here. But I do like the current map in the sense that the counters don't get lost in a map full of clutter. So I think there's a bit of a fine line here.

I'm not a huge fan of a Google maps look for this game. I don't like a UI mismatched for the era depicted - i.e., satellite maps for a pre-satellite era game, NATO counters for a Napoleonic game, the titanium-looking interface for AGEOD's Civil War game.

The map, in the end, is the game board. And it should promote a consistent theme for the game.

well over layed onto a hex based map makes it easier and quicker with less time needed, with some great results, this is from another game on the forum, but looks good imo

but there's always room for improvement no matter which way you go, but in the end it's eye candy[;)]

One of the reasons I haven't bought this game yet is the graphics, especially the map. It's just boring!

I understand that there is no accounting for taste but I don't think the map looks bad when I see screens of Warspites AAR. In fact, at this zoom level Id call it very pleasing. The only thing I'm not keen about in these pics are maybe the lettering on the city names. Could maybe use more pizzazz.

compared to how the maps in this series of games looked, I'd say they've come along nicely imo

Wow! I haven't played any of the earlier DC games, but I agree with you. The DC:B map is a nice improvement.

The more I play the game, the happier I am with the map. It tells me what I need to know. And it doesn't overwhelm the counters with background clutter - and I think the counters are among the best I've ever seen in any game.
