Well, messing up a magic move with your task force ending up near Suva (thats where I last spotted the four) is a bit suspicious... I doubt he intended the carriers to run into a lone cargoship but he definitely is up to something....

So, MrKane is moving his armor forward in China.. That is the way to crack the initial defenses. He has one regiment shock attacking a full Chinese Corps without taking damage and inflicting some losses. Let's see if I can turn that around (invested some PP in leadership and set the corps to shock attack)... We don't want him to think he can steamroll the poor Chinese....

Hong Kong is about to fall, Guam falls...

It's a good move on his part. Sheer numbers are the only chance for you in that case I think. Chinese inf have only 5 AT value. Those little construction units with the 4 cmbt eng in them might help. The cmbt eng have 12 AT value. So few it likely won't do much, but against these single units, you never know.

Still, x3 terrain is the only hope really.

You are right, of course.. My only hope is withdrawing to good defensive terrain. The starting units come with some anti-tank weapons and artillery and those need to be preserved... Once the Chinese are allowed to withdraw to good defensive positions with enough supply to fight, the Japanese will have to make some big investments in China to prevail...

Here in the clear, before I can withdraw I'll try to counterattack...

He spent a lot of time down there strat bombing against Jocke. You could be in for the refined version. You do have some decent AA, but there are a lot of targets in that part of Oz.

Don't forget about retreat losses. Doesn't matter if there's 0 AT value, if an all-tank stack has to retreat, it still gets whacked. And if it's been hit by a bunch of disablements due to a low-odds attack, expect them to flip over to destroyed.

The attack actually succeeded.. Forgot to report. Around 20 vehicles destroyed

I actually thought I had decent flak there but the latest version of DBB seems to have reduced the amount of guns... I'll grab a screenshot and show you the reinforcement que....

There it is... Biggest size is regiment and it will take a while before first guns arrive... If he keeps the carriers in the area it will be difficult to get AA from CONUS..

If he does keep his carriers blocking reinforcement routes I'll have to find a counter using my own.. Currently I've got three US CVs @ PH...

One thing he doesn't have this early that might hurt him here, or be a chance for you to jump a strike, is CV-based recon. No LR Dinah III or Irvings yet from LBA either.

December 16

The Japanese carriers (call sign KB-) moved to a position east of Noumea.. That is a second course change in as many days.. There is no valuable shipping in immediate danger. Mostly due to the fact that they fled to Australia, New Zealand or CONUS where they can hide...

I am forming some supply convoys @ CONUS. They'll take a route that is covered by patrol planes...

The Dutch cruisers did not retreat to Balikpapan the route I intended.. That was silly of me (MrKane holds an island to the south and the cruisers were not at absolute threat setting).. They moved along the North of Sumatra, stumbling into a heavy cruiser TF and Kaga / Akagi... So far I lost the Java, de Ruyter and a destroyer. The others are in danger due to the short legs... Can't sprint out without running out of fuel.. We'll see

MrKane pursued the fleeing dutch navy... Four destroyers remain..

There was some good news as the RAF and USAAF stood tall defending Singapore from the IJAAF.

I re-opened the game turn I already completed to make a screenshot and it looks like I missed KB completely.. It is moving west, about 8 hexes south of my cruiser TF.... [X(]
