the GTX 1080 is going to be an epic card but is already making some previous buyer of the last greatest cards (980 Ti or even the Titan X) sick with Nvidia, as not only is it way cheaper than the last / previous card, it's way quicker, bit overkill for most, but if you want or are using dual cards etc for 4k screens, look no further, one card wonder, low power, fast as a rocket and half the cost of previous solutions, so great news indeed.

premium price atm on launch but once it settles down a bit might grab one in a year or so for my gaming rig[;)]

regarding Doom, looks good, but not really my sort of game either so not played it or seen much apart from online stuff, so enjoy if you have it...

The GTX 1080 is definitely going to be in my new rig! [:)] I don't think it is overkill for graphically intensive games (Doom, Grand Theft Auto V, Fallout 4...), don't you think Zak?

It is overkill for 1080p@60, and potentially 2560x1440@60 in my opinion.

About GTX 1080, what does it need? I've got 3,30 GHz Core i5-2500K and 8 GB of RAM. Do I need change processor and increase RAM before I swap GTX 580 out for GTX 1080?

Recommended Power Supply 500W

apart from that your system will be fine, will slow the card down a bit getting data to it, but not enough unless your running a 4k screen on a high setting, then yes more cpu would be needed

http://www.game-debate.com/games/index. ... e=Doom%204

unless you mean for Doom mind you so here's the spec's and test run do be fully sure before hand[;)]

Doom demo is out on steam, free as normal and well worth a try if it's your cup of tea, i quite enjoy it, but wouldn't buy it, as i'd never play it, but maybe getting a free copy with my next GPU anyway[&o]
