The thing I like about the DCGs is Randomness, and the oppertunity to setup my forces that start on the map the way I want to set them up.

So, would you prefer an LCG that would allow you time to sort out the forces the way you would like them instead of jumping into battle straight away?

I would like them better if there was a setup phase similar to the DCGs.

Fair enough. Alas, I don't think that will be possible with LCG's. Who knows though!

If anything, this poll is showing the importance of maintaining HAL and its abilities.

I do a lot of this at times, too [:)] Especially when testing the early versions of any scenarios I am creating. Also my favourite mode for playing the "Ode To..." scenarios. I guess I played (and still play) solo boardgame sessions, so this feels very natural way to play as well.

All vs. AI ( bigger, the better). I don't use the battle generator other than to create a map,I then modify for myself( inho the generator is Way to 'random' to play the scenarios it creates) so I don't play HAL via that medium.

Always versus AI. When planning to buy a new tactical wargame I always look first for the reviews talking about the AI abilities.

I did a small experiment of my own, by posting two versions of a scenario for another game. One version for solitaire only, the other version for PBEM. To date, 84 dl's of the solitaire version compared to 24 dl's of the PBEM version. Not exact science, but an indication. And similar numbers to the poll here.
