Also, I wanted to add for the 'Para Drop'. Any units where their drift/dispersion takes them off map will be unavailable for that mission. This means your unit will likely be pretty short of forces or badly scattered when they hit the ground. You'll nee dot do the best you can with what you have at that time. In follow on missions, missing troops should slowly begin showing up to fill your ranks however, actual casualties will be hard to replace unless the 2 bridges over the Caen/Orne are liberated/cleared.

Simple things like the map. Blank maps sent in advance (screenshot maybe ) does that mean I make the map with the editor from a screenshot , then from that map I then pick one hex to deploy my units?
I then send that back to DD ( and of course i have no idea how to do that

)
Maybe a thread to help myself and others get to understand the basics of how to participate ?
It looks like a great way to enjoy the game

Everything you will need is pretty much provided. I manually create each custom scenario and provide you with a general operations order. You take that information, play the mission (scenario) and then submit back to me the end game files and written AAR.
This thread "
Group Tigers on the Hunt (Test Campaign)- Official Information and AAR Thread" pretty much shows how the process works

That's how I understood the drop procedure:
1) Double Deuce will provide a blank map to each player (top map)
2) The player will indicate the drop paths for every stick (plane load) of paratroopers (middle map) and send back the map to Double Deuce (posting the hex list in this thread, I suppose).
3) Double Deuce will roll for scatter (bottom map) and send us the scenario file, with the British paratropeers spread all over the map [:D]
4) Play the scenario and be ready for a tough time [:D]. A crash course in CC tactics vs. Tigers is strongly advisable.
5) At the end of the scenario, fill the AAR.
@Double Deuce:
What happens to a unit landing in non-open ground?

They will be checked for reduction or possible elimination (more likely just a reduction). I wish we could set status when a unit was paced in the editor such as starting them off broken or pinned, etc.

For reference, the main dropzone will be the open area to the Northeast - East of Ranville. How close each unit comes to hitting that 'target' is unknown. You will know your actual location once you hit the ground.

I am thinking, once this gets started, to give each Commander/Unit their own thread we me also running a single campaign AAR thread. That way players can keep up with stuff for their specific unit and not have to dig through a single massive thread and try to sort through everything. Since there is no 'human' enemy that will also help keep PM traffic to a minimum.
Thoughts?

Me too! Such a feature could come handy for a series of situations where troops are not immediately ready for action.
I strongly agree with the proposal of having individual threads for every company commander.

COMMANDERS! Please note that each one of your company's will be spread out aboard 3 C-47 Dakotas. This means you will be selecting 3 'drop points' on your planning map for each plane and the points must be at least 5 hexes apart (planes cannot fly on top of each other

). I will allow you to designate which leader/squad will be in each plane. You will also need to designate which squad will carry which support weapon.
Here is the starting load and unit ID# for each of your 3 planes;
C-47 Dakota #1
ID# 3: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 4: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 5: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 6: SQUAD: Airborne
C-47 Dakota #2
ID# 7: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 8: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 9: SQUAD: Airborne
C-47 Dakota #3
ID# 10: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 11: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 12: SQUAD: Airborne
Among the above units you will be able to assign the following Support Weapons (1 per squad);
2x SW: LIGHT MG
2x SW: MTR 51 Airborne
2x SW: PIAT
I will also need to know which plane each of the following leader swill be in
ID# 0: LEADER: Captain A** (i.e YOU!)
ID# 1: LEADER: TBD
ID# 2: LEADER: TBD
NOTE: The 1x CREW w/3in MTR from Battalion, will be in the same plane as the Company Commander (you).
You do not need to post anything yet, I will ask for that when I open each of your official GTotH threads BUT if you have questions feel free to go ahead and ask them now.

guys, it remains 5 positions,[:)]
Make an effort,
Double Deuce knows how to make the scenarios,[&o]
And do not count on me for scenarios right now because I'm working on a big project that takes me a long time. [:-]
So enjoy the scenarios you offer Double Deuce.[8D]
This is my friendly advice. [;)]

I take for granted that the 3 Dakotas will fly in the same direction [:)], so here is my silly question #1: will we decide their heading, or will it be pre-set?

You are correct they will be flying the same direction and yes, I will let you choose the approach path.
