While I understand and sympathize with what you are saying...your "fact" is as much opinion as you are claiming in the brief. Both are opinions and about as right as each other. Let them manage their own product as they see fit. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it.
Well, You can explain me why the 'opinion' of the scenery designer isn't the same than mine?
(yeah it's the same).
You can read the Command Live issue 1 and the side briefing.

It sounds like the next installment of Command Live is unfolding in Turkey right now.

Who knows? Maybe there is a Lua Script event like: Chance of Turkey Coup 80%

The reality of tonight's news in Turkey is a scenario that even my warped brain never considered.

Here is an interesting article about Turkey that gives a little more background on the complex situation there. It was posted a few days ago prior to the current Coup.

Besides the SCS tug of war, European continent's security crisis, Middle Eastern power struggle, and global turmoil after the post-Brexit governance, what else could possibly be for our guesses?

Will Taiwan strength her backbone after the economical claim for the biggest island in SCS being globally denied?

Will Israel want another 6-days war to give Islam regions another lesson of supremacy?

Will Argentine eventually acquire new military toys, right in a middle of Brexit populism?

And ultimately, what Russia can do in this year of global events?

More to guess indeed, but I'd prefer surprise than expectable, so let's reality happens, and make scenarios around real events.

What would we even do in a turkey coup scenario? Order F-16s down to afterburner and fly over cities and shoot down police helicopters, I guess.

Oh, not bad.

Question: Does police/SWAT's special weapons and ammunitions (like laser dazzler, JHP bullets for stopping power, tear gas and such) using against military combatants (civil war or not) considered the violation of the Geneva Convention?

Some are a violation, tear gas for instance. Laser dazzler is a gray area, hollow point bullets are very certainly a violation - however, to qualify for protection under the Geneva conventions you need to be a combatant, and almost certainly in a state on state conflict (sort of) - or there is lots of work for lawyers. Police are generally considered civil defence and not really covered in the conventions, unless they are fighting combatants. The question would keep the courts busy for years.

It will complicate lots of things if it goes violent.

But if it turn into a live scenario, I think police/non-military units should be secondary, and avoid affecting both sides of military actions too much.

I wonder if the scenario should have a last minute pre-release update, at least to the briefing, to account for the attempted coup that appears to be going Erdogan's way, if it hasn't already fully ended in a defeat for the mutineers. The Turks would be at a disadvantage now with chaos and distrust within the ranks of the armed forces, especially since at least some Units of the air force are most definitely participating in the coup. Ive heard nothing regarding the Turkish Navy though.

I wouldn't mind a short delay in the release due to the coup, especially since the point of this is to portray current events.

Its going to turn into a civil war IMO. Erdogan is talking about how this will be a great opportunity to "purge" the army and the soldiers who surrendered the bridge at Istanbul just got massacred. Everyone in the army is going to fight to the death rather than give up.

Do you think they should still release the scenario as is, pledging the next one to account for the events of the coup, and as you say, possible civil war? Or should they delay to redesign it?

Wait, Massacred? i didnt hear that, whats your source?

X2

I think the live part should be a confirmed military operation, which is usually comes with a code name. Not the sudden unrest, eruption of violence from political changes, or instantaneous terrorism.

It was a coup attempt, not a civil war. Police was still acting as regular law enforcement, arresting / shooting heavily armed subjects which happened to be soldiers.
If it had escalated to a regular armed conflict between the turkish government and rebel forces, most of the Geneva Convention would not apply since it would classify as an non international armed conflict.
What would apply is the common Article 3 of the Geneva Convention and the Protocol II of 1977.
Article 3 regulates some basic stuff, belligerents are supposed to treat everyone not taken part in hostilities humanly, accept surrender, conduct not torture or summary executions... stuff like that.
Protocol II is a much more extensive statue mostly concerning civilians. It basically expands Article 3.

So, the stuff you wrote about would have not applied to an non international armed conflict within Turkey. Or to put it another way, international law of war is a mess.

The is a rumor going around that the rebel F-16s over Ankara were refueled by KC-135s from Incirlik Airbase.
One could expand on that...
There are also reports that Incirlik is/was blocked and all combat operations against ISIS have been suspended by Turkey.
Another rumor is that Erdogan wants the US to hand over that Gulen guy and threatens to seize Incirlik if the US doesnt comply. There are nuclear weapons at Incirlik, the US would have to respond decisively.
Plenty of stuff there if one wants to build something.

I love the concept of Command Live, I've begun viewing current events in a different way (which has made the news much more terrifying)!

This would be an interesting style of DLC for other games.
