Can't see the maps properly but although an improvement (I cannot see those hideous orange fists) the flippin' mountains are still that shiny grey colour [&:]
Why not just use the MWIF map design???
Anyway - roll on October - I can't wait to get my hands on the Collectors Edition [:)]

Latest news is that this won't now be ready until April 2017.

The new maps have quite some changes. Harry is especially proud of how distances are more correct now when you try to triangulate

Also the railnet was upgraded to be based off maps from the late 30's instead of early 20's. Some changes in the German north sea possessions and France (France-First during Winter 39/40 become easier). Oslo is invadable. +2 hexrows in Russia. Sicily now invadable from the WMed. Getting rid of the Africa/Scandinavia map. Pacific sea zones and islands changed a bit. and much more ..
RAW8 is an improvement in most ways (except the ridiculous new ASW table). Being stuck on RAW7 must make you really sad..
There will also be a new set of counters with some changes for CE and new setups (esp. USE chits will be changed slightly).

I am looking forward to the new maps and counters and rules - and hopefully I will see them as positive like you do (the ASW table excepted apparently). Regardless I will be purchasing the moment I can.
However as far as MWIF is concerned and RAW 7, you are quite wrong.
1. I don't know what RAW 8 does so I can hardly be sad - let alone really sad - not to be playing with that rule set.
2. At some point in the future I will know what the differences are however. And? It's a bit like owning CIV IV. I own CIV IV, I like and play CIV IV a lot. CIV V and soon, CIV VI will be out, but I cannot play them as I have a computer that is too old and warty - a bit like my good self. But you know what? I still like CIV IV and so the fact there is a different version out there matters not one jot.
So there you go.

It has to be RAW 8. This is the last WIF they will ever do apparently. Finit. The End

The changes to Belgium and the Netherlands have a major effect on game play.

Something even more critical than the above: The beer symbol in the Canberra hex[:'(]

Two other things: 1. For the fans of the Bulgarian gambit, Bulgaria is changed, and also will have an extra unit I hear. 2. The Azores hex to the west of Gibraltar.
Looks like I will have to seriously consider Euro-WiFcon this year, and maybe Oktoberfest[8D]

Yes, they will, and I don't like the change of that hex at all. Makes things much too easy for the Germans.

Looooong ago RAW7 passed away in WIF, we have been with RAW 8 versions for years, and the last drafts are really stable. At least in my sorrounding players don't even think of keeping RAW7.

I think I remember Harry said the map will have a beer in each of the locations of the 3 WIF tournaments, Australian, USA and Europe. But I think it was only for some special edition of the maps released for these tournaments...

I have not seen it and the link isn't working (for me at least) but anyway, I cannot understand how can this be a problem for the GE, they almost always take Holland in one impulse, so...

Earlier CW was able to disembark units to Rotterdam, but not in the future. There is a new hex though west of Rotterdam.

That is if Holland has not being taken by the GE, don't remember the situation but I believe NE gets like 2 units max (depending of the set used) which can usually get rolled by the GE armor.
And even if Rotterdam stays untaken for the rest of the turn, those CW units would be sorrounded and in hostile land with no retreat, facing Wermacht and Luftwaffe, so I think I never saw a CW player debarking there.
Not the same case as Belgium, where you can retreat to France, where french troops can cover your flanks, and where 3 corps and some aircraft can hold half of the land out of control of GE.

I have seen and done that. One less hex to attack Antwerp.
And taking Rotterdam is not that easy if CW has fleet in North Sea.
