I hope my Aussie opponent got to see this and the big fall air show...he is on sabbatical from the game to visit mother England. Every Sept Duxford has s big air show....I told him to go...did you get there Wild Bill??

Two P-40s and a P-36 in the same hangar!

The chrome one is a C and couldn't see what version the one in the rear is.

With no carburettor intake on the top of the engine, the far P-40 is a Merlin engined P-40F or P-40L model (a popular variant that there were never enough of...).

With that colour scheme I would put money on P-40F (No.3 Sqn RAAF operated the type in North Africa). The P-40L is very similar but based on the P-40K long fuselage which cannot be seen in the picture above.

I went back in 2011, Amazing place. Bovington also pretty spectacular.

Don't know where you're from but the museum in Dayton is pretty spectacular and each of the guards carries two tasers.

They have a mfing XB-70, or is it a Klingon battlecruiser?

The only military museum Ive been in is the Infantry Museum at Ft. Benning... alas no planes.

There's an artillery museum near Ft. Sill that I'd like to go see. It's got all manner of self propelled artillery that I haven't seen elsewhere and it's a day's drive away but I don't get out much anymore.

There is a submarine in San Francicso that is well worth the visit. You can traipse all through it and marvel at how confined and mechanical it is in there.

Also on the list, but I'd love to go with someone more knowledgeable about the armour/arty than I am. There is a small land warfare museum at the IWM in Duxford, and some cool stuff there, but nothing like what I've heard about Bovington.

They did have an IS-2 Stalin which I've not seen, and it is a monster!

Untersee boat in Chicago. The US sub used in the movie Red October is up in the Northwest somewhere, Portland or around there I think. I was on it.

I thought the one up in Chicago was U-505, one of only two U-boats captured during the war? The Hunt for Red October would have featured subs that were a bit more nuclear. Do you perhaps refer to the movie "U-571" which was set in the WWII era?

I was confusing you, which I am very good at. Yes, I do believe the U-505 is on the Chicago waterfront. I was also referring to the sub that played "the USS Dallas" in the movie which is not and was not a nuclear sub in the movie or in reality and it is located in Portland, I think.

It appears I've lost my mind. The USS Dallas is still in service and was used in the film "Red October". I remember being on a decommissioned US sub in the NW somewhere and must have conflated it with the Dallas. The Dallas is nuclear powered and the boat I toured was not.
