Was this issue ever resolved? I have recently put the game back on my PC and I'm having exactly the same problem.

I assume the lack of response indicates this game is no longer supported. such a pity that most of the scenarios are unplayable.

Yes, it's no longer supported, but Matrix/Slithers has no problem selling it for $50 a pop.
It's weird; I have the game on my desktop and my laptop. Both are Win11, fully updated, etc., etc. Everything appears to be exactly the same, but it will run all scenarios on my laptop, but not on the desktop.
I've uninstall/reinstalled the game on both in an attempt to figure this out. Runs fine on the laptop, no-go on the desktop. Sadly, the game had real potential; one of the few that I've seen over the last 8-10 years.
