If you right click on the shortcut you can disable the UI scaling performed by the system or the application. Maybe try a different combination with this?

Edit : Found this as well, Solidworks had a similar issue in the past.

I had messed around with the custom display scaling in the past weeks trying to solve my display issues, but maybe I did not try or adjust it enough. I will try that again TitaniumTrout and see if anything changes.

I will report back...

Okay, GOOD news! First, I tried adjusting the custom scaling, which did not help. With the Windows Creator Update installed, the custom display scaling does not work or look the same as it did before the Creators update. Now, the custom scaling is global only. You cannot adjust individual settings that I can find.

However, the good news. I then tried TitaniumTrout's other suggestion, that being overriding the dpi scaling behavior in the Command.exe properties. I tried both the Application setting and also the System (Enhanced) setting, and neither worked. The System (Enhanced) setting actually made my display issues worse. BUT, the System setting, in the Override dpi Behavior settings DID work and solved my CMANO display issues! Yes! GREAT suggestion TitaniumTrout. I have even tried changing my display scaling (non-custom) and rebooted my system, and everything still works. I think we have a solution to this problem! Now, I still need to test this potential fix on my gaming desktop, as I have only tested this on my gaming laptop so far. I will report back with results on that system and test...

Okay folks, and the verdict is.....

SUCCESS!! The above potential fix worked on BOTH my 4k/UHD EVGA gaming laptop display AND also it worked on my LG 28" 4k/UHD display for my gaming desktop. I am SO happy now. Thank you Sunburn for all of your efforts troubleshooting this weird issue and mucho thank you to TitaniumTrout for coming up with the actual solution. Let's mark this one down as SOLVED!

Sniper31,

I have the same problem. Reading TitaniumTrout's post, I'm not sure exactly what you did. Could you describe what you changed to fix your display issue?

Thanks,
Ken

Edited to add: I'm running the CMANO Steam version. My Command shortcut is not a "normal" shortcut. If I go to C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/Steam Apps/Common/Command Modern Air Naval Operations, then I can access the "Command.exe" file.
Right-clicking that allows me to open up the "Properties" dialogue. Is that where I should start?

I have the resolution problem as shown in the screenshots by Sunburn above 4/26/17. I am running CMANO on a Surface Pro 4 and tried the TitaniumTrout settings with no luck. I have the Win10 creator's update so maybe that is the culprit? Anyway, it's not critical since I play CMANO on my regular desktop fine at 1920x1080. Surface Pro 4 resolution is 2736x1824 and is unplayable with that tiny font.

Hi,

Can you confirm that:

1) You have upgraded to v1.12
2) You have run the "PreferExternalManifest.reg" file in the \PreRequisites folder?

Thanks.

No dice. I have a partial screenshot but it's not letting me link it. Weird since I've been registered in forum three years. imgur_com/TFIPRlP

Thanks for your help.

In that case I can only suggest Solution #2 from here as a fallback. Sorry :(

Greetings. It's a very long time since I last had time for naval sims...apparently Harpoon3 is old news now :)

Anyway...

I'm a new owner of C:MANO and I have a Surface Pro (KBL version, native rez 2736x1824) that I want to run Command on. I have the display symptom shown in the screen shots posted in this thread. I'm using the Steam version of the game. I did apply the registry fix posted elsewhere and I tried the thing about setting the screen rez down to 1920x1080 but none of that helped.

However: I have solved the problem with the help of clues above so thanks to Sniper31 for asking and TitaniumTrout for the magic suggestion!

Here's the missing puzzle piece that did it for me and I hope it helps other Steam users...

Using a file explorer, in the steam directory look for the autorun.exe file:

c:\program files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\GameMenu_CMANO\autorun.exe

Right click on that file to bring up the properties dialog. In the compatibility tab check the "Override high DPI scaling behavior. scaling performed by:" check box and in the drop down for that select "system".

That should have immediate effect: I noticed that the C:MANO logo splash screen went from tiny to reasonable and when the game started the map screen was readable and the dialog boxes for various things were not garbled anymore. Some resizing of dialogs I'd visited before was needed to get them on the screen but that tweak basically sorted it for me.

[For completeness: I am not sure if the reg fix is a pre-requisite to the scaling tweak to work or not; doesn't seem to have hurt anything but it may be required before the DPI scaling tweak will work...I have not tried the DPI tweak without the registry fix.]

Hope that helps others!

Cheers,

Mark.
