I found to my dismay that Melbourne has a garrison requirement and I took a VP hit for it this turn. I'll have to send troops into the union halls and bust some heads.

Tarakan's still holding out, but I doubt they'll hold more than a day or two.

223 and 224 Group RAF have been successfully pulled out of Singapore. Right under his nose and his daily bombing didn't stop to go after them. They'll be a welcome addition to Burma.

Had this happen with his TF about 10 hexes N of Savaii, near Pago Pago. I'm guessing it's a single carrier. This was some stray transport I missed somewhere along the line. Not sure at this point if this is a lesser carrier, or if KB is being broken up.

Adding insult to injury, at Moresby your panicked freighters had a collision.

I'm curious about your strategy of bombing in China. Two questions: can you do this with reasonable safety from Jap fighters; and even if you can, are the results worth the supply cost?

That SNLF fragment attacking Port Blair may have come by Mavis seaplane. I doubt he will send more that way, now that he knows it is not empty.

Wasn't aware you could used them offensively like that. Have to keep that in mind.

Jwolf, I'm only sticking to safe area in China with the bombing. All his fighters are along the extreme southern coast and I haven't seen any further inland. I've been switching targets regularly also. I'll be standing them down soon anyway. I don't have any real objective in mind with this other than to give them some experience.

Action today. Force Z got sprang earlier than intended. GW was keeping a carrier lurking in the strait and I pounced. I actually formed two groups. Force Z proper and another built around some light cruisers. This was probably a good thing, because as it turns out, he had some more carriers further to the north and they attacked the lesser group. Except for the Ford the main group is in good shape. Either way, Ryujo is toast.

PoW got a number of big hits on the carrier. Boise lit her up good too. I was a bit distressed that Repulse got punctured by his cruiser. Not a good ship up close.

Damage was pretty light-ish. However, to get them out, I have to send them at flank speed to do it. I'm wondering if these carriers only have dive bombers on them.

I'm torn where to send Z to Australia or onwards to Colombo. I do like using bombardments on that part of the map. If it wasn't for his carriers, I would have taken a shot at his surface group.

India provides "safe haven" and repair/rearmament facilities for the big guns, but perhaps not much opportunity to use them in the near future.

Oz allows you to team up with the Americans or toughen up your Ozzie cruiser force, but you have limited repair and reamament facilities for the big guns.

It's probably good I didn't commit Force Z late, as I would have had more to deal with carrier-wise.

Pearl's drydock capacity is finally back to 100. It started the game around 85,000.

My last convoy leaving Soerabaja gets pounded by mini-KB. Enough will still escape. Force Z ducks through the strait past Batavia and is free. Lots of minor damage, but nothing big. I'm thinking they'll get fixed up completely at Perth. Some of the Dutch drydocks have reached there recently.

For some reason, he has Zekes sweeping some of the southern dot bases in China. There's no way I'd have any planes near those areas, so it just seems weird.

A couple IJN bombardment task forces arrive to pound... Kure Island. Needless to say they didn't do much. Carrier planes attack a freighter unloading at Midway, but miss. I'm guessing this is a Hosho type ship.

The 1st USMC Division is loading up at San Francisco for Pearl. An aviation engineer unit arrived in the east and is shipping over. It's nice having them in strategic mode at the start and already set to move westwards.

Carriers seem to be everywhere. The ones in the DEI seem to have camped near Bandjermasin. The splattered a bunch of tankers at Soerabaja.

Enterprise cuts loose on the two old fossils that were at Port Moresby. I'm always amazed how torpedo bombers can hit anything with a bomb at 5,000 feet. I'll be working closer so I can deliver some torpedoes. I think it was a mistake for him to send these ships this far, as he'll have zero outside support for them. If I can get the fires ramped up good, I could bring them down.

I'm getting lots of transport available at Pearl, but I'm leery of sending them anywhere right now with all the carriers he's got scattered across the map.

The 8th Australian division has landed in the hex SW of Pegu. Unlike stock, Access of ships to Pegu is now more restricted to lighter ships, so I have to use this dot base. I probably should send some engineers here to try and make it more of a proper port. I suppose I could have just gone to Moulmein...

Apparently I like to bombard empty Atolls, because, you know, it's a thing.

Nothing different about little old Kure in this scenario.
