Yes, because the positions of individual soldiers are not simulated.

For my perspective, a little bit like "Steel Panthers", indeed.
And if thats the case, it would be great.
In the old days we played that (coop) hundreds of hours, despite all the little faults it had.

The AI is dynamic, meaning that you can give it basically any tactical situation within the game system limits, and the AI can handle it without any scripting involved.

I still enjoy the freeware version so Im really looking forward to this release. Could it be modded for WW2?

Freeware game had Eastern Front '44 mod, so it is absolutely feasible.
