Sure, trample on a JFBs hopes and dreams Pax.
In my mod the Yamashiro's are even slower as their power plants were in a bad way at the start of the war and nothing was ever done about that.
+1
And I have cut their range for the same fuel bunkers (decreased fuel efficiency). I added an upgrade to them (180 days) to bring them back to 'stock' numbers.
PS: BTW, I have built scrapping into my mod. You only get resources back (think recycle the steel), but it is better than nothing. I think I have the number set at like 50% of original required amount.
Nice idea about the scrapping Pax!
You should be able to get two CD units with 6X 36 cm guns each and Forts 6 (for the turret armour).
Most of the times a big gun ship was scrapped in wartime the guns were kept for coastal defence.

Why so much hate for the Ise and Yamashiro-class BBs? They are serviceable, though limited obviously by fuel. In one of my current games, they are parked at Akyab in the Indian Ocean, using very little fuel and guarding a critical air-base and port against invasion and bombardment by the Brits Madagascar group. Without these BBs, I could not claim to have control of the Indian Ocean. Because of them, I do. They serve as a deterrant: effectively so.

How much do we get if we turn in AW1Steve for scrap? I recently got 50 bucks per for turning in two fire hydrants. Got wet doing it but thems the wages.

Hmm interesting.
In my current mod BBs are done. I've cancelled the yamato class and replaced them with some other toys.
The ISE and Fuso class BB's come out of their 1930's modernization looking like this.

Here is the final upgrade of the Fuso...well worth doing imho.
One of the great attractions of battleships late game, an area by the way no Gorn has ever made it to, a battleship can draw heavy air strikes from the deathstar or land based air....and by far and away a great use of the battleship then (especially this puppy with lots of AA even if the rockets are useless), is CAP traps.
So, you pair this bad girl up with some Matsus' (also pretty strong AA presence) and give them about 300-600 plus Franks, Georges, Ki94II as escort and the battleship will earn back her victory points quite nicely, and perhaps sting the Allies enough for some other anti-deathstar tactics to become available.

Yes, but it is hard to get devices back. It would have to be a bunch of LCU slots set up to be disbanded. Problem is, those are exactly the slots that for a GC you are short of. All of the other tables have plenty of slots, but not LCU's ...

No hate. Just that the Yamashiro's had an issue with their engines, to the extent that they couldn't meet design speeds. Further, if my research is correct, it would have impacted their fuel eficiency as well.

If you convert them, as Lowpe shows, they also can service 22 float planes each. Were one so inclined, the 4 Ise-Yamashiros can put up 85 N1K Rex of their own as CAP in a CAP trap situation.

March and April of '42 are very dangerous times for the IJN KB.
What game are you playing????[&:] At this time Japan can muster 12 CV/CVL's, far more than the Allies could. In addition at this point many of these CV's are carrying undersized air groups, so Japan has the ability to add A/C. So put together your 'Death Star' and have at it, at least for a bit longer. Remember in
Shattered Sword Purcell(sp?) made the statement (paraphrasing here) that at some point the Japanese failed to remember that if a target was not worth the whole KB it was not worth it at all.
BB's are NOT obsolete in ww2. But they have had their jobs and usefulness changed. Keep all the AAA you can on them , and support your CV's with them , when they are not doing bombardment or night surface attack. Always use ALL your assets , every single one of them. I'd much rather have a BB catch a bomb or a torpedo than a CV. Only a fool doesn't use all the resources that he has given to him. If it doesn't work using the assets as doctrine requires , then get creative and write new doctrine.
BY the way, Japanese CV's are often not all that fast. Don't use them with the fast CV's , but rather with the slower ones. The Kongo's are better for the fast CV's.
Pearl's of JFB wisdom, from an AFB????[&:] Whose side are you on anyway????[:D]
Yeah, when I'm chasing down the few remnants of your carrier forces, it certainly would help if they were slowed down by having some old BBs tagging along. Good plan!
Not him, you!!!! You have some perfect CV's for BB escort. The Junyo/Hiyo/Hosho all 25 knt ships. A couple 25 knt BB's could help. Ya think???[:D]
The IJN has plenty of CAs to escort her carriers
I wouldn't say plenty. The only thing I'd say Japan has plenty of are problems.
If you convert them, as Lowpe shows, they also can service 22 float planes each.
Negative (at least in stock), these ships carry 22 CV capable A/C. That's 88 if you convert all four. That much more CAP could make a difference, especially if paired with the above CV group. Ah, the pipe dreams.[;)]

The five times I played the Allies I sank the entire KB every time by sometime in March or April. That is my direct experience. I didn't lose a single CV doing it. The Wildcat, in my view, is the best fighter plane in the world in Jan. '42. The Zero may be a close second. The Dauntless dive bomber which already populates most US CVs is without equal anywhere in the world. The Avenger, which is just arriving is better than anything the IJN will ever produce. Underestimating the US carrier fleet is easily done and a disastrous mistake for the IJN. Underestimating them from the US perspective is just plain foolishness. These planes, flown by US crews, will be deadly flying off UK carriers. Otherwise the UK carriers are mere flotsam.

You must have played some pretty sub par opponents. Not that you can't hurt the KB, but good Japanese play that early in the game should have you coming out on the short end. Just sayin'.[:)]

Agree. I kept the KB intact until early '43 when I used them to jump a large Allied CV group. I lost 2 cvs along with a bunch damaged. He lost 3-4 plus some damaged.
After that, kept them out of sight as a fleet in being threat. They finally were wiped out in late '44.
So losing the KB that early is really poor play by Japan. What were they doing? Trying to invade Hawaii? [:D]
