I think there was, technically, some DSB used routinely in Europe as well. The Germans almost automatically launched local counter-attacks in response to an attack. Strategically, one side could be attacking while part of the attack is defending against counter-attacks. I think plenty of DSB was used in the Baltic as well, though WiF’s action limits make this pretty rare in the game.

If DSB hadn't existed, Anzio would have been a complete catastrophe, rather than just a total shambles.
