Back at it! As you can see, the puppets are advancing up the east coast while the capitalists are grinding their way into Seoul. The city center, reduced to rubble, has fallen and my main line of resistance is crumbling. You would think that a day of rest in the rear reading up on the great sayings of the Most Dearest of Leaders and several struggle sessions would be enough to refresh my reserves, but, you would be wrong. Today's youth would rather get some sleep and bind their wounds than reflect on the dialectic. Honestly, it makes me wonder why we even try to enslave the world anymore. In any event, I do have a couple of fresh formations to help stem the tide but I don't think we'll be able to hang on to any piece of S. Korea for long. I hope our fraternal cousins notice that now there are capitalists north of the 38th parallel as well as puppets!

The fact that there are not a whole lot of attacks gives me hope that the capitalists and puppets can't push their formations too far.

And they do have losses.

Lots of losses. One question is where to the damaged squads and devices go? Are they in the unit formation report? How long until they are repaired? I assume it's part of the unit readiness report.

Sadly, I have heavy losses as well. Each and every one died with praises for Fabulous Leader on his lips but still, I'm being ground down.

Aaannnddd, just like that, it's over. Both the puppets and the capitalists pushed up the east coast but were unable to take Wonsan. I got pushed out of Seoul but only with two months of heavy urban fighting. Not enough of the UN forces made it north of 38th parallel to trigger Chinese intervention. Fraternal cousins my behind, Mao's forces were acting more like fraternal first cousins once removed in the opinion of this Beloved Leader. [:)]

They were starting to break my line in the east and if the game continued it was time to bug out to the narrow part of the penninsula but it didn't so I didn't.

As you can see, there were heavy losses in the UN ranks.

And they lost a lot of tanks.

Of course, my losses weren't light either.

But that's ok since we're commies, we're just making omelets by breaking eggs.[:D]

I think this is a fun game and one of these days I'll get it so that the war goes on after January 1, 1951. I think that the AI gives a good account of itself.

BUT, there is one thing that drives me crazy. Sometimes under the stress of combat units split into smaller components (in this game regiments into battalions). I like that mechanic. But, what I hate is trying to find all three of the battalions to reconstitute the regiment. The game will show you the hexes that divisional units are in, but, it won't show you which of those hexes has the other two battalions of your regiment. So, you have to remember the regiment number that you're trying to put back together and hunt through 1-4 other hexes to find the other battalions. Even then, you may have to click through a number of other units just to see if your missing battalion(s) are in there. If you're tired of reading this paragraph, you can understand why I'm tried of spending time trying to hunt down battalions.

On the whole, I'd give this scenario an 8 out of 10 since it seems pretty balanced and can be played quickly with lots of bashing on both sides.

Right click on a unit. Formation Report. All units in the formation and their locations by hex will be shown. If you then click on any unit in the report the game will take you to it. A sample of finding divided part of the 6th Infantry Regiment is in the attachment.

Divided units will how up as 1/6th Infantry, 2/6th Infantry, 3/6th Infantry.

You know I tried that it did not seem to work. I'll give it a shot in my next game.
