Singapore is even better for the Allies to have than Rabaul.

I've got 8! oil stacked up in Singapore, and 3 in Palembang. Where should it be going? How and when do I get it there? I know I can voluntarily destroy it all before Japan arrives, but surely I can find a use for it somewhere?
Use it for reorganization first. During the use oil for reorganization phase, click on each line for saved oil above Singapore in the form. When you do this, the form should show the message "Do not use" for each one you clicked. Then click "Reorganize All" (assuming you want to do that). The game will ignore all the saved oil that has been selected for non-use, and start using the oil from the first line that does not have the message "Do Not Use" presumably Singapore.

Japan cannot choose between Singapore or Rabaul. They need both...
Invading during the surprise impulse is automatic success, if there are no units present. So personally, I would invade the oil hexes in NEI and Rabaul (where normally the CW can't put a garrison in) with divisions in the surprise impulse. Japanese marines invade Java and a nice land force would march towards Singapore out of Siam (because a good CW player should have a white print unit in there when war starts with Japan).
With a large BB force in the South China Sea for shore bombardment, this should do the trick...

Thanks - still wondering about Singapore- if Japan is going to move into the Indian Ocean it’s critical presumably. But Japan can still steal the resources in Malaysia and leave the CW officers sipping their gin and tonics in the Raffles hotel safe behind their fortifications...

Singapore is too close to the home waters. As long as the Allies can keep it in supply they can send subs out and cripple the Japaneses economy. It's bad enough when a bunch of US subs show up in Calcutta.
RAW8 has a long overdue fix for that tactic which could be kluged into MWiF if enforced by the players. In RAW8, India, Australia and New Zealand are only secondary supply sources for the USA, thus requiring a CP line back to the US. Much more realistic. Guadalcanal was all about the supply line from the US to Australia.
But the CW can concentrate their subs in Calcutta, and Singapore is even better.

Thanks - yes, as a sub base or place for CW forays into Chinese waters it’s a great base. I was thinking in the context of, with a Japanese DOW on CW they are going to have to chose between taking Rabaul or Singapore but in reality they can do both if CW can’t reinforce the Pacific. And as noted japan can use Siam to mount a land invasion. But for the US Fleet, Rabaul is in the right spot - not too far west or east, or north or south for that matter until the us is in control enough to move into Manila etc.

The one problem with Rabaul is it's only a two-sea-zone port, not three. More of a Japanese problem than a USA one.

The other problem with Rabaul is that in every game I've played, the Japanese take it fast.

Can I clarify something I think I read here....is it correct that scs which can carry a division are able to conduct naval invasion? I have used cruisers to transport a division but never tried an invasion.

Eligible units can invade from a cruiser ie if playing with AMPH rules then marine and inf divisions etc can invade- I just did this in Java.
Yeah Rabaul will always go to Japan and it will just be bypassed and isolated by US as it was historically. Truk is a 3 sea zone port but it isn’t as good for stopping allied units moving west it seems.

Yes that is correct as long as the SCS transport option is On.
Edit: not any division, they have to be non-motorized INF class

Yes, they can. Any division that can travel in an SCS, can invade from it.
Oops... previously answered.
