The situation at the end of T4. We cut some of their units off - good. If they can't
dislodge or advanced tank unit, then they'll be doomed.

Not really planned but... let's see if we can stage a successful relieve operation.
More like a last ditch effort, I'spose.

The last slide... I am afraid. The counter-attack failed and see for yourself how
the situation looks like after the Soviets smashed into my units (or what was left
of them).
The .SCE and .EQP file will be attached shortly in order for all of you to toy around with the scenario.

You know the drill: Tutorial '45 Folder into GraphicsOverride, the other files into the scenario folder; in this case Tutorials.
Now it's up to you to play around and provide me with some feedback, OK?

So, what's next? I'd like to continue with yet another few chapters of the Tutorial 'XX series, covering interesting colonial struggles, from the 50's to the 70's perhaps, which of course will cover topics like guerilla warfare, counter-insurgency, event-based 'Easter Eggs', the use of modern equipment (for all those of you who love
Choppas!), riverine-units, stuff like that. I am thinking in basing the whole storyline and various scenarios on this novel and the hypothetical 'Republic of Zangaro'. If there's somebody out there who is capable and willing to create a map of that state, much appreciated; because I s*ck in map-making.

Please drop your suggestions (incl. the map making volunteer(s) here in the thread, ja?
Thanks!

Much obliged, Hawkeye! I hope I can explain in the prelude to Tutorial '50 how one can build infantry and support teams with the ultimate making sense formula...
Remember, Light Rfl Sqd has a an AP=19 and a DF=10? As we deduced I think 5+ years ago, that means each man (DF) carrying a standard bolt-action rifle represents an AP=1.9

A Japanese Light Rfl Sqd usually had a strength of 15, that translates it into an AP=29 (28.5 really) and a DF=15... but more to come, when some soul has mercy with me and creates me a map

Herr Oberst,
I used your formula for Rifle Squads extensively in designs for TOAW III.
But with Bob's new in-game Equipment Editor in makes the job much easier. No guessing about the GE Rfl Sqd w/le.MG34 w/PzF60.
This takes your tutorials into the Designer territory. But this may be the time for your tutorials to introduce this.
The only question becomes what AP AT Def etc. values to use. Perhaps that can become a topic to discuss on this now very active Forum.
With permission of the FITE2 team, I used their .eqp values as a starting point for my 15 scenarios in IV. Of course, FITE2 is East Front but also had Lend-Lease .eqp.

If I ever get the chance (time) to start the Kharkov '43@2.5km I will most likely use the FitE2 .eqp; makes it more or less consistent for all the 'struggles' in the east. Atm I am fiddling with this for the Tutorial '50s series...
1 x SMG (MAS-38) (AP=4)
1 x LMG (FM 24/29) (AP=6)(similar to a BAR, handled by one soldier)
8 x Rfl (MAS-36) (AP=8 x 1.9) ~ 15.2
So, a FFL Sqd with 10 men should have roughly an AP=25 (which is again the standard of Rfl(19) + LMG(6)=25 as the standard value we used for it hehehe.

First, let me tell you that messages like yours do encourage me to continue! Much obliged for your kind words, Greg!
I am, as we speak, preparing the foundation for the Tutorial '50s series... I finally found a volunteer (thanks Jose-Antonio!) who's creating the map of the fictitious 'Republic of Zangaro' (from The Dogs of War novel) for me - well, in real life Equatorial Guinea that 'Republic' is. And me, atm... adjusting the .EQP file (why, how, etc. I will explain during the course of the series) to spice it up, e.g. give it a realistic flavour... (see attached).
So, don't worry... still a whole lot of little bits and nuances of TOAW IV to be covered.

Cool your boots. lad. It's just the technical preparation and fiddling with the .EQP file, yet. Once I got the map from 'camrada Jose' that's gonna kick things off. Don't expect a monster scenario; on the contrary. Forces will be limited, but I'll try to spice it up with some backstories, e.g. of the commanders, the country, different 'missions', etc. I am indeed apprehensive as well.. how it might turn out
EDIT: Glad I got WinSPMBT to model the .EQP as detailed as possible...

Finally I found a proper .PDF in order to help me with a detailed OOB and TO&E for the Colonial French Forces; those info are harder to obtain that the TO& for a rag-tag hastily assembled German KG on the Eastern Front in 1943!

Solved. Gosh, the 'fan'-mail...
You might wonder why I am going to use 'characters' or 'leaders'? I am thinking of adding a certain RPG element into the series, e.g. commander 'cards' to reflect some of the commanders abilities and, well... issues. Some of it I probably could do while using the event engine, others I can't. Let's say a company or battalion commander is 'over-cautious'. In the game it will be simply reflected by allowing his unit(s) only to attack with minimum losses and limited attacks... I have to find a way to 'create' those command cards to supplement them with the scenario(s).
