OK, I just tried logging off and restarting the computer and still no joy on the WINZIP. DID you get what you need from the above?

@BeirutDude, try the following:
Make a backup copy of your CSME scenarios folder.
In the original scenarios folder, delete all SCN files except for the first ten AIW*.scn files. That is, retain only AIW1.scn through AIW10.scn.
Launch Middle East.exe, go to the Scenario Select screen, attempt to start one of those ten scenarios, AIW7.scn say.
Success? Failure?
Sorry failure. Tried to load and then crashed the program (or at least the program is no longer appearing in Task Manager).

So I tried starting again and nothing happened at 19:28
The at 19:31 I hit the Cntrl and Alt keys with the intention of starting Task Manager and it tied to open the scenario I chose (Boot Camp)
Then it locked up and I did start task manager to to kill it.
When I did I got a message MEEngine.exe not responding
Does that help?

Was that indeed the tail end of your frontend.log file when the frontend locked? If so, it's an important clue. It reports that the last .scn file being processed is On Two Fronts.scn. Then the frontend locks up, yes? It suggests to me that On Two Fronts.scn is causing the problem, or possibly the .scn alphabetically following, Operation Kadesh.scn.
Try another experiment:

[*]In the restored scenarios folder, with a full complement of all scenarios, delete On Two Fronts.scn and Operation Kadesh.scn.

Another thing to try. I see from your provided engine.log file the following:

You are installing the game in the folder that the installer suggests by default, C:\Program Files (x86). Try creating a folder, C:\Games. Then, after an uninstall, try a new install, installing instead into: C:\Games\Matrix Games\Campaign Series Middle East.

If not, it would really help if you could somehow fix the zip issue. Maybe use something other than WinZip?

I am not being allowed to delete the '2.0" in the Settings text. It says I need admin rights but I can't do this task as administrator and when I delete 2.0 and try to save the change I am not allowed to do so.

Cheers Rich, that sounds like you installed the game in C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Campaign Series Middle East\ right?
What you can do - this is the easiest way I could figure out - is copy the settings.txt file from there to another location, edit it there, and copy it back. File Explorer will ask for Admin permissions to replace the file there, and once you click OK to that you should be good to go.
Let me know if this helped.
If you install the game to C:\Program Files (x86), it is possible you will encounter strange Admin permissions issues that affect operation of the frontend etc. Hence the suggestion to try installing to C:\Games instead.
So, absent entire and detailed log files (which would give us better clues), here are the best suggestions we have for you, BeirutDude:
[*]Uninstall, then reinstall into C:\Games\...
[*]Try experimenting with removing/adding .scn files from the scenarios folder on the chance there are one or more rogue .scn files (either with bad file name or bad content).

Where do you have the game, do you have it under Programme Files(x86), or somewhere else. If you haven't tried it yet, I'd strongly recommend trying to install at say C:/Matrix Games/*

Try reducing this to the barest minimum. With a redone install, try emptying the scenarios folder of all .scn files (only the .scn files; leave the others alone). Then reintroduce just AIW1.scn. With just that one scenario showing at the Scenario Select screen, can you launch it successfully?
Be sure to try installing instead into C:\Games.
Another possibility: Your downloaded installer might be corrupted. Retry the download.
Other than that, we can try going into a deep debug of the issues. But having full and successfully zip'ed log files (they will be huge) will be essential.

OK, so now I have deleted everything but the Boot Camp Scenarios. It locks up right here and tries for a bit then crashes. Also sometimes it does NOTHING but then if I press a key wakes up.

If you can solve the problems with zip'ing up the log files, I can make available to you special augmented logging, debug versions of the EXEs that will help us to drill down and pinpoint the issue(s) (maybe

).
But before that, be sure to
[*]Uninstall, then reinstall into C:\Games.
[*]Download the installer EXE anew.
