The Romanian and Italian allies have broken into the Crimea, while 11th Army continues to push towards Rostov. The Soviets have yet to sustain any defensive position it has taken up in the South, since the breakthrough across the Dnepr, but they fight for every river crossing and rail junction.

Game over, after 50 turns. It extended two turns, to Dec. 7.

Here's the victory determination, not sure how to interpret some of it. I had gained all victory locations other than Moscow city center, and eastern suburbs, Leningrad, and Tikvin.

Southern part of the front. I was able to take both Sevastopol and Rostov in early November, after heavy fighting on the approaches. Oddly enough the AI left each city undefended - the only time that happened during the game. However, late Nov and early December the AI launched heavy offensives, successfully cutting off rail lines to both those cities, so if the scenario had continued, I would be hard pressed to hold on there.

North. Here too, in early December, the AI finally opened the rail line between Tikvin and Leningrad. Note also that Lake Ladoga is frozen over, and the Soviets were pushing in units across the lake.

Great fun, wonderfully created scenario. Thanks to the original designers and Larry Fulkerson for his revisions. I highly recommend this scenario to anyone interested in a division/brigade level version of Barbarossa. The PO is excellent.

Thanks Gary, nice AAR, always good to see the PO reacting well.

You certainly seemed to pay when pushing units too far forward, but you can't win unless your are pushing forward. Nice balance of decision making. [:)]

Well done and thanks for sharing your thoughts and battle with us. The balance of speed versus protection is a difficult one...

One thing was unsure about in this scenario are all the military police units, which essentially I ended up using as front-line troops. I'm sure they were not intended that way, rather as anti-partisan guardians. However, there is no partisan activity in the scenario. To be more realistic, I should have used the MP units behind the lines, at the very least to guard against the stray Soviet unit that I had allowed to stay alive behind the front.
