The two games by Berserker Games that Jack 54 suggested (post above) are solitaire. I have no Idea if there good or not, sorry.
You then have others like "Target for Today", DVG´s B-17, Hornet Leader and the rest of the saga from DVG, "Enemy Coast Ahead", "Nightfighter" (you can find solo rules for it), and "A Wing and a Prayer" to name a few...

Your welcome Demyansk.
As a side note, most of us end up playing almost any wargame in solo mode regardless if the game is only for solo play. You simply play the best you can for both side. Some games tend to let them selfs play better, or be more solo friendly if the use a "chit" pull system/mechanics. Games with alot of hidden info and/or fog of war seem not to be to solo friendly, but I see folks play them solo anyway, so it´s really up to you.
Steve Pancrazio has updated (v1.1.0) the core rules set (Duel of Eagles) for his WWII time-frame modules, I say modules because he has now also added a new module to this era (1939-1945) with the "Battle of Britain" module. He has also added naval rules now [:)]
Great stuff!

Imo all of the games Red mentioned are good games but it depends on the type of air-combat you’re looking for… Most of the solitaire games involve die rolling and create a good narrative but are not simulators.
For example
Aces of Valor (ww1)is area movement…after setting up your squadron for the campaign you draw a mission card. You roll a die for each area your flight enters; then check the chart for an event. You may have a flight of 4 Se5 and encounter a flight of German Albatros. Combat aircraft are placed on a mat based upon initiative. Initiative is determine by a die roll+ Aircraft rating+ pilot rating. Pilots attack the plane with the next lower initiative. It’s rated about 2 out of 5 in complexity.
Here’s a sessions play on BGG
https://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/12 ... ission-mau
Bloody April (WW1) is not really solo but has a solo matrix for the Germans if you play as the British. It’s very detailed. It’s operational so battles are resolved by flight. For example a chart is checked using die role modifiers and gives the outcome of 4 Albatros attacking 3 Se5a’s. It’s complex and can have several Flights on the map at once. BGG rates it 4 of 5 complexity.
The Enemy Coast Ahead series tells a great story. IMHO
I’m not sure I know of a solo air-combat game that plays as a Simulation.
Warbirds (print and play) is a simulation in the sense that it incorporates things like throttle setting, how many G turn a particular aircraft can make at a certain speed and altitude. It’s not solo but can be played solo by doing the best you can.

Well not sure if he want to fly or just strategy type of games, my fav is that old Battle of Britain. There aren't very many good sims out there though.

Air Superiority/Air Strike. Great balance between complexity and playability.

Thanks @fritzjoel! I agree but the whole pack (both titles) come out quite expensive, even in the second hand market. Most likely, I will try to find "The Speed of Heat" and get that. If not, then "Air Superiority" and when I can Air Strike to complement the SEAD missions.
For now Iam catching up with WarBirds GS Blitzkrieg by Steve Pancrazio.
@RisingSun, I have Battle of Britain, I even posted a video in the Eagle Day to Bombing the Reich forum. I think you even helped me to get it running on W10.
Thanks. Iam also trying to decide what naval simulation Iam going to adopt. So far "South China Sea" (Compass Games) is real nice, but not a simulation per see (sea) [:D]

Besides Air Superiority/Air Strike, GDW also released the "Desert Falcons" expansion with many aircraft and missiles of the Arab-Israeli wars dating back to the '50s-'70s era. It also included a campaign game based on a Israeli Kfir squadron, but the format can be easily adapted to any setting. Other data additional Aircraft Data Cards were published in a magazine (I have it somewhere, but I do not remember its title).
The Speed of Heat was nice, but a bit on the complex side for my taste; the same is also true for Whispering Death.
Flight leader was fast and fun, but I didn't like its "instant hitting" missiles.
Is there anyone around still playing the old "Flight Commander" PC game from Avalon Hill? I keep an old W98 PC alive just to play it [:D].

Havent played that game in years, if they haven't update it to be compatible with Wins7 or 10, wont be easy. But if you set it up as admin and compatible with WinsXP, that should do the tricks. Unless it is DoSBox version.

So I finaly tracked a copy of Whistling Death in a local shop but have some doubts...
How are takeoff´s and landings handled? I see a sea based hex map so wondering where the aircraft takeoff from (carrier ops?). Are there random failures like broken flaps due to overspeed or alike?
How would WD compare to Steve Pancrazio´s Warbirds GS?

Strange, because I play a lot of old games via DOSBox on my Win10 64-bit rig, but FC2 never ran. What I get is "This program is for Windows, DOSBox cannot run it" - and then the frontend (I use D-Fend Reloaded) closes the door on my fingers.
Could you tell me which combination of DOSBox/frontend you used to run this beloved classic? I really miss it
