@ Oberst Klink

I never played that game, but the arrangement is identical to the one we used to play Terrible Swift Sword. My friends and I once attempted playing "The Longest Day". We soon got lost in the German symbols used for the units and got tired to refer to the manual to understand if the unit we were moving was Panzergrenadier battalion or a motorized bakery unit [:D].

@ Big Ivan

We also played "War in the East" on the same pool table and my friends also adopted the same Leningrad/Moscow strategy. You did better than them, as they never managed to take Leningrad (though they arrived very close to the city). I think no sane Axis player would try a Southern strategy like the Germans did in 1942.

UP844,

You don't know how good that feels to hear in my ears!!! So we have some history in common with the pool/ping pong table massive war games!!

I busted my big fat ass to try and take Leningrad and as I recall from my taxed old memory it came down to about 4 or 5 die rolls with every Axis plane I could muster
within range of the carnage. No less than 15 Russian infantry divisions disappeared not to mention about 11 or so Russian fighter groups.

I got super lucky for that day and I am grateful!

Board gaming in the '70's & '80's! What a rush when I look back!

Cheers UP844 always!!!!
Thanks Rico for your spot on input also!

Just a note for you here. Critical Hit released the Omaha Beach module as an ASL module first and later made two, expanding on the first module calling them Omaha West and Omaha East. Their ASL series is called ASLComp.

That's interesting Ted,

I looked at Atlantic Wall. 7 22"x34" maps and close to 4500 counters. Looks like 3 times larger than Hurtgen but only double the price?!
You would probably need a couple of Ping-Pong tables to set it up. But for $240 looks like you get a lot.

As for ATS Omaha Beach, now that looks kind of cool. Counters look like an off take of Advanced Squad Leader. Map looks well done as does the player aids.
Want to see if I can find more screen shots of ATS, good stuff, Thanks for the tip!!

John ATS Is considered ASL lite..only a 100 page rule book as opposed the ASL's ..what near 500 pages.
The system plays well. Never had it all set up at once..would be a hoot with 4+ Generals?
No Prisoners.
