Apparently it is possible to manipulate an enemy stack in order to increase the chance of a RBC.
This is not true.
10.5.2. retreat Before ComBat (RBC)
RBC code allows only one RBC attempt against a
combined stack – if successful, the entire stack retreats

It was true a long time ago. It was fixed some time back under TOAW III.

Larry I see you have been reading my research project from 1985. Here I am thinking that I was able to destroy all copies of it. Sometimes I miss the days before the internet when one could get away with almost anything at Uni.

By the way, very nice compilation of tips HobbesACW.
Thanks Cabido. Still updating it occasionally.
I think I'm close to playing my first game after about 4 months!
Hoping to make a scenario sometime in the next couple of years

+1, yes, thanks for the verbage you submitted, it's really helpful. And
about the scenario you want to do sometime in the future...are you going
to do something timely? Real-world situation? But you'd probably rather
work on your favorite location and time period. I would. What is your
favorite?

I'm planning on making a scenario about the WW1 campaign in East Africa. But I want to play a few TOAW scenarios first.
