Mike - referring to Post #13, I think you are not taking into account the Formation Supply Delivery setting. The on-map display shows what is possible , but this is affected by the FSD setting. In this case, 6 x .65 per turn, plus .50 if the HQ is adjacent. Which equals 6, not 9, I think !

Steve,

Okay, that makes sense to me. I checked my "Bulge" Scenario and I see their supply rates are at 70%. Okay, I can follow this. Thanks for your response!

I took a look at an attack with an Indian brigade. A little surprised by the loss of supply by the HQ...

Steve,

I went back and looked at an earlier post (12) and I realize my deduction was wrong. I have re-uploaded the image here.

So, the unit is in a hex that gives 6 supply points. It's supply is increased by 6*.65 (HQ Formation supply delivery) = 3.9. But since it moved, it is reduced by 33% thus 3.9*.66 = 2.5. I guess this gets rounded down to 2?

Am I correct?

Thanks,

A look at how defending affects supply. I thought that I had messed this up because of the resupply between turns (I took the initial supply results before the Allied turn and the later supply results the next turn after the attack. 3 Recon should have been resupplied in the interim, except the unit is sitting in a hew without supply...) but my accounting is correct - maybe...

I'm going to try to look at overextended supply over the next few days...

I managed to change the overextended supply threshold in Crusader to 3.

The unit has hit the overextended limit...

Last slide for today. The effect of being overextended starts to show.

He was actually incorrect. The black health dot indicates that the unit is Unsupplied, not overextended. There is no equivalent dot for overextended. It is indicated by the font color of the supply display, however.

Edit: And note that that black dot indicates that the 6th RTR was Unsupplied, not overextended in at least some of the tests you performed.

Bob,

Thanks for clearing that up. So, the only way to check if a unit is overextended is to look at the font colour of the supply display. Then, one would have to take a look to check if the unit is actually suffering from the desertion effects of being overextended.

I do not know how difficult it would be to have some sort of highlight on the counter to show that a unit is in a position that might cause it to be overextended or is actually suffering from desertion. In the meantime, I will just have to be careful.

All the best,

I started looking at supply radius - first looking in the manual

Here is a look at examples from two different scenarios. I really do not understand how supply radius works. Can anyone help?

As simply as I can put it, the bigger the supply radius the slower that supply attenuates with distance.

So, if the SR is 5, then at 25 MPs away, the supply is 5 supply radii away from the source. If the SR is 10, then the supply doesn't reach that attenuation until the unit is 50 MPs away, etc.

I think that this slide will be my last one - unless some one has a question or points out a mistake that I made. I would like to thank Bob (Curtis Lemay) and Steve (sPzAbt653) for their assistance and answers. I found working my way through the different supply issues very interesting. Hopefully, it will help me in future games.

All the best,
