China
With the rails now clear of Chinese obstructionist, I'm working troops in Movement to those the three-pronged attack that I mentioned before. I'm also running troops hither and far to serve as garrison units. Some of the base garrison requirements seem much larger than I recall from Scn1 and 2. It feels like a cluster-flock, but I'll get it sorted shortly.

Pacific
In the pacific I've got mostly standard moves from the Marshalls. Since I already have Rangoon, my focus there is the Solomon isles and a push for Moresby.

Malaya, eastern coast amphibious operations:
TFs are unloading under the protective umbrella of air units, both army and navy. And a SCTF with a couple of big-boyz is patrolling to cover the two hexes also.

And TFs are headed to northern Borneo too.

I've adjusted the altitude levels of the air groups that were bombing or attacking from 23k down to something lower. I always did pretty good around 10k for ground attacks.

Choiseul Bay is occupied by the Japanese.

One of those Dutch subs puts two fish in the CL Saru sending her down to Davy's locker.

My Amphibious troops land at Makin (SE of the Marshalls) and Batan (in the Formosa Strait).

So I sent some fixes to Joe for the next mod. One of my concerns is that the mod doesn't work with Tracker. Some kind of database error with aircraft. I started working on air frames and engines and found this little gem:



If I can't manage production with Tracker or within the AE game screens then I'm really-really at a disadvantage. I sent this to Joe and I'm hoping there's something he can do in the scenario files to fix this and still let us continue.

I was curious with all the multi-national air frames and their engines, if you just got them added as a recurring scripted reinforcement, or if you had to build factories and produce those engines and air frames.

Yup - Joe has them set so I can create more engines. Japan needs that if they are going to create more aircraft - aircraft without engines go nowhere fast. [:)]

I think all of those "Unknown" engines are Ha-XX... I'm pretty sure that the bottom unknown one is the Ha-35.

It's just that Japan lives or dies on production and resources. I really-really don't want to play a guessing game with this. I was telling Joe he might ask Floyd and Damain to give his mod a run and maybe the could tell him which fields were messed up in the database...

Historically Me 262s were flying in mid 44 IIRC.
Probably severely limited number of air units could upgrade, but still a couple of Me 262 squadrons would beef up the defense of the Home Islands or the Philippines.

Yup. It's all in how you use the editor. I haven't really poked around with the editor much so I'm no expert. He has Italian, French, and German troops in this mod too. And ships. Look up in the combat report and you'll see a few French subs sticking it to my Japanese merchant ships with torpedoes...

Yeah, I noticed one of the better Italian fighters in the Sumatra/Malaysia air battles.

Hopefully he gets the files repaired so you can manage the economy. Without those screens it is unplayable other than a few turns for the spectical.

This is interesting. One of the two Air Combat TFs that hit PH is south of Johnston Isle and headed NW. Behind them is a SCTF with the Chester and two DD. Be careful when hunting butterflies; sometimes their beauty hides a nasty bite!

In the mod, Joe added engines to the database for German/Italian air craft. He was told that the engines are hard-coded - he cant' add engines. So Joe is trying to fix the mod by removing the offending engines and assign Japanese engines to the axis air frames. Hopefully the changes will transfer to our current game else we will have to do a restart... I'm not sure how long this process will take but it sounds like not too bad - maybe a day or 2.

How many Whirlwinds will you get since the British only produced 112 because they found that their altitude limited perforrmance to low altitude was unacceptable as dog fights climbed to medium then higher altitudes.

Maybe next mod. The Germans did mainly for clandestine mission but one Italian fighter pilot flew P-38s and shot down a B-17.

I suppose you could mod it as a replacement unit of 1-3 AC that comes on the board in 43 or 44. I don't think there would be enough captured enemy AC to field an air group of 9 though. And 1-3 allied AC would not do anything in this game with the current air model.
