Despite the apparent slow down in the west, in the east, only Prague stands as a real bastion of Czechlovockian resistance.

Japan has made deep inroads against Chinese forces. Losses were less than last month but still significant. Japanese forces are only a month or two away from taking their first major Chinese city.

In an effort to make up for lost time and get back on schedule, German forces lashed out in all directions and even set up a new front with the French with air and artillery attacks on the Maginot Line.

On the Eastern front, a political turn of events has made a seismic shift in the situation. Hungry, leery of Soviets presence on their border, has entered into a full alliance with Germany. Germany and Hungarian forces streamed into Romania winning two minor battles. Most importantly, the siege on Cluj has been broken and a route into Romania has been achieved. After an Italian breakout and Italian forces streaming into Romania as well from Italy, a full war between Soviet forces and Axis is underway.

Actually the war between the Axis and Soviets has been going on since January, but we do see some Germans in the Romanian mix now.

In the West, artillery barrages rained up and down the French line and were followed by an all-out assault on Frances primary supply depot by Germany's elite Sturm and Panzer divisions. A massive tank battle to the south followed. Ju 87's and artillery barrages put the more powerful Char B1's in confusion and German panzer units won the day.

The Red Army is fighting back, and from our own experience we know how tough the Romanian terrain is.

We see a lot of Italians heading our way. They should reconsider any advice from the Germans. The Germans do not have Italian interests in mind when they call Italy east.

For those following the news reports, we assure the friends of the workers - The Soviet Union is becoming stronger each month.

A note on Soviet reporting

The authors of the account you are reading are given the best information on Axis activities and deployments. However so as to not aid our opponents Soviet deployments are subject to passive and active dezinformatsiya.

The Allied commander will give his observations on the war thus far as soon as his tears stop long enough to let the ink dry on his war diary.

China: An utter disaster for the Chinese. They have yet to figure out a way to halt the Japanese armored spearheads.
France: The panzers are rolling now, and I suspect France will also not be able to stop the armored spearheads.
Britain: Pouring supplies, Spitfires and moral support into France (and breaking out the "Be Fluent in German" tutorials.
US: Patiently waiting to help save the world, or what is left of it when their isolationism ends.

The German advance has pushed the front 100km from Paris. A massive air battle outside of Calais equal casualties on both sides, but it was enough for German bombers to decimate Franch tanks. The proceeding assault was a rousing victory for German forces. Unfortunately, despite strong opposition from German Generals, High command demanded that the battle to be followed up with an assault on Calais itself. German forces were repulsed with severe losses.

In the East, outside of Cluj there was a massive tank battle between Soviet and German forces. German forces prevailed and due to the hard lesson of the West, they wisely didn't follow up the attack into the mountains.

Soviet forces have now destroyed 515 R2 at a cost of 574 R2. We are gaining experience each month. As for losses, well : "War means fighting, and fighting means killing"

Calais has fallen into German hands and massive amounts of artillery were destroyed outside of Reims. But October brought the Luftwaffe's first major defeat. Lack of recon aircraft had lightly guarded bombers make a run outside of Paris on a heavy tank column. Overly aggressive once again, the price was very high. Production has now shifted into overdrive to replace the losses.

In the east, Germany pulled back in the north into better defensive positions. After a tremendous artillery barrage, the mountains south of Cluj were cleared with heavy Soviet losses for a German advance.

Japan saw its finest month of the war. Extremely heavy casualties were inflicted on Chinese forces. The Chinese air force was caught undefended after Japanese tanks broke through the front lines and then seized Sian. A large air fleet was destroyed on the runway. The breakthrough also caught a staff division, destroying most of it, and nearly cut off the supply center east of Sian.

Substantial casualties were inflicted on Soviet forces as well. An elite marine division supported by the army attacked an armored column after an air attack from carriers and artillery barrage from the mountains.
