First and foremost many thx for your fantastic work, slickandjake! [&o]

If it doesn't mean to much effort, an overview of the results would be nice, like Axis wins : Allis wins.

TaffJones: Please clarify the games against calwerc. Are you saying that you played Axis both games and lost both games decisively? Or are you saying you each played as Allies once and the Allies won each time? If so, I appreciate you completed games to a decisive loss. Typically players resign well before this. I am considering treating a resignation from one side or the other any time before January 1943 as a decisive victory. I want to think about it for a day or so but I will start a post and get feedback on the idea.

Sugar: Thanks for the appreciation! I am assuming you are asking how many wins the Allies have in the games played, and how many wins the Axis has won in games played. If so you can easily figure that out adding up the Wins/losses for either side. With that being said it would be easy for me to post it. I just hope I don't miss updating it! Currently the Allied side has won 28, the Axis 25. But it appears to me at this point that player skill level has far more to do with results than a particular side having an advantage. I think the game appears to be well balanced. To determine if there is an advantage, about the best thing to do is if players of equal skill play each other and have a mirror game where they switch sides. If there is enough sample size it could reveal if one side has a slight advantage or not. Or, players with an Axis rating/skill played players with equal Allied rating/skill could also reveal if there is an advantage. Finally, do you have any games to report?

Rankings update has been posted based on the results recently reported (and assuming TaffJones lost both games as Axis from his 1/15 game reporting post).

smckechnie (allies) vs Invothea (axis) smckechnie on way to decisive allied victory, took Berlin in the summer of 1943. Allies had taken the entire Pacific except Japan itself. I resigned rather than play it out, as waste of time. Not sure how you would score it, if at all.

So you resigned Smckechnie? Usually the person resigning is the one listed as being defeated. What else did you have to defeat? Taking Rome and Tokyo? Were the Japanese taking over China?

Ratings and results updated, except waiting on replies from both smckechnie and Taffjones on their reported games.

Rankings updated based on giving TaffJones a major victory over Fireston from his January 28 post in the Elo Rankings Games Results and Reporting thread.

I am going to put the following guidelines in place as well starting February 3 of 2020:

Any resignation before January 1943 will be counted as a decisive victory for the victor.

If the Axis hold 11 of the 14 cities for decisive victory, which must include London and Moscow, before the end of 1945 and an opponent resigns then it is considered a decisive victory.

If the Allies control at least 7 of the 10 cities needed for decisive victory and control either Berlin or Tokyo, as well as Chungking, and the opponent resigns before the end of 1945 then this will be considered a decisive victory.

Mercutio (axis) vs Cristolos (allied) Decisive Axis victory Jan 47 (Well played my friend!)
Thanks Mercutio!

I was a lot of fun! Btw, my handle should be Christolos and not Cristolos.

I used to think I was past the beginner level but I'm not so sure any more as I have now lost 4 games in a row and currently losing another two (mirror match) against Iwarmonger. The game with me as the Axis is clearly lost and should end with Germany surrendering some time in early 1944. Our game with me as the Allies could theoretically go longer...

I still wonder how accurate this rating system is given that it cannot fully take into account relative skill levels and the fact that some of the early results were also derived from early versions of the game that has since undergone some level of patching to tweak the balance.

That said, I think it can still provide some useful baseline, so I am throwing in my stats as well, at least what I can remember...

2 losses in a mirror match to Mercutio as he has posted
2 losses to ruskicanuck in a mirror match, I can't remember the exact in game dates...but I believe they were in 44 or 45. ruskicanuck, if you see this, maybe you can correct me if I am wrong.
1 win as the Axis against gwgardner who resigned.

Cheers,

C
