Question:
Can a solo game be played as if you are playing the less predictable human?
Or is it better to better execute against the AI?

Not sure I understand the question.

Everything listed above are good fundamentals that can be used against human or AI. I guess the major exceptions to how I play against AI is China and Russia. With Russia I dont worry about engineers (dont need in egypt either) because the AIs barbarossa and Egyptian campaign wont be very strong. And in China, I always go very aggressive, because the AI doesnt know how to handle it. Vs a good human player I play much more conservatively.

A human generally knows what’s a coming and can adjust prior to some of the history.

Is it better to better execute history against the AI or can you stray from it to see how well it reacts?
I guess a game like that might answer that

You can do a lot of gamey things against the AI too... having a unit blockade south africa... AI will never react. It follows scripts, and thinks tactically. That is why it focuses on destroying vulnerable units, instead of operationally planning encirclement.
