I wonder what the impact of this smoke in the air will be like where cloud seeding is concerned. Will it be creating storm systems in the direction of air current direction (which appears to be headed towards the western pacific).

It should seed clouds. Now to get moisture into the smoke.

Think if a Hurricane or a tropical storm met that smoke.

I just saw a news report that said in California the majority of fires were set by a group of people on PURPOSE. Just saw the head line didnt't read the article.

So true Pvt Grunt, in January this year during our Southern Hemisphere bushfire season I was was a part of an online 3 day discussion group, on bushfire, global warming etc etc, going into this discussion I was at the belief that 80% of the fires burning in Victoria and NSW were deliberately lit. Oh how wrong I was. The moderator of the group pointed out several facts supported by many reliable sources of information to disprove my beliefs. Interestingly about 93% of all fires were started naturally and the other 7% by fire bugs and carelessness(stupidity and clumsiness), and most of those fires deliberately lit were extinguished in the 30 to 60 minutes after being lit. Newspapers and TV news are very quick to report on deliberate fires, they do report on natural fires too, but gloss over the true but uninteresting facts. I suspect that most the fires in California are naturally lit fires. Fire Services in California and other like places in the USA, like the Australian Eastern Seaboard have been fighting fires caused by lightening strikes for well over 100 years, well before Global Warming appeared on the scene, but I'm sure the manner that News Services have reported fires hasn't changed much in that time. About 17 years ago I left city life for a country life style, 2 floods, 3 major bushfires and a half a dozen less threatening fires later, I aint going to leave this beautiful area of Australia, I feel deeply for those people in the fire areas in The U.S. and wish them well. For the truth forget the News Services, the most reliable info comes from the Fire and Forestry Services web and information bulletins. Stay safe all.

Smoke is bad enough in BC, that Canada post took a day off from mail delivery because of it.
I'm sure it is a major health problem in the relevant US states.
Smoke is managing to get all the way to Norther Ontario.

Meanwhile mother nature has several storms/hurricanes headed towards the US coast. The current one was nasty.

The human cost is high enough already. The economic cost would be very high even without covid.
It just seems like each year for the last few has been trying to outdo the previous.

A nice rack there. Are you allowed to harvest that? If so, take them off and mount them to hold a board for a shelf.

Yes, I am staying safe. Take care yourself.

Technically only 12 states out of 50 have fires burning. So its not like 50% of the USA is on fire, I know we also had the double hurricane, but where I live the only issue we have is the same old issue with the algae in Lake Erie.

Yes, some places get friendly with their storms and name them.

As far as Lake Erie, properly treat both the sewage as well as the farm waste and don't use too much fertilizer. Get more zooplankton to eat the algae as well as the small fish. That could also help the walleyed pike population as well. Of course, you could also have mesh bags with sterilized Zebra and Quagga mussels hanging around to clean up the algae.

Those sound like good suggestions to me, I am not a biologist, wonder why the powers that be don't do something about it.

As far as the garbage and sewage solid, there is a process to turn them into oil. It can also be done at a profit.

I won't go into the details on my thought of why or why not, that would be political. [:-]

For something else to think about, in the 1890s there were about 2,500,000 people in New York City, New York State, USA and there were about 250,000 horses there which were eating and drinking. What those horses ate and drank came out the other end. Think of the pleasant fragrance in the muggy summers, with the flies as well, then a rain storm finally clearing it out to the East and Hudson rivers . . . [:D]

It's been all dismal grey rain showers accompanied by fog here today. They never looked so good.
