Interlude:
USSR is clearing gearing for a war with Finland... as soon as those Siberians make it closer, of course.

Interlude:
The goal of France is to commit the least amount of units on the Italian front - but just enough to hold those pasta-eaters at bay. Will this be enough?

Interlude:
The goal of CHI-COM units is to become a real thorn in Japanese side - I'm a big believer in maxing out the Red Communist armed forces. For now, though, they can at least slow IJA advance down...

Sep/Oct 1939, Allied Impulse #2, Land Movement:
NAT-CHI cavalry quickly identifies my mistake of not protecting Wuhan. Oops. Every US entry chit matters, right?

It's going to be a wild impulse, I imagine.

Assuming this is the last chance to get things done, Axis go for it across both fronts:

Sep/Oct 1939, Axis Impulse #3, Land combat resolution:
Polish attacks go well; Warsaw falls.
Chinese attack costs IJA 2 lost divisions and overall disruption at a cost of one destroyed National CHI garrison.

Sep/Oct 1939, Axis Impulse #5:
The Allied impulse goes by without any major surprises, likely celebrating the fact that Germans forgot to move into Denmark. That might have been a very costly mistake.

In a Goddammit moment, Danish fleet reminds me about the cost of forgetting about it.

Sep/Oct 1939, Axis Impulse #7:
All-fine weather leads Axis to spur to action; Copenhagen in Denmark is captured, and the second assault of Chengchow commences, moving down the remaining NAT-CHI defenders at a cost of another IJA loss (an infantry corps). This has been the bloodiest cost to take a Chinese city so far in my (short, admittedly) MWIF career.

Sep/Oct 1939, Allied Impulse #8:
USSR declares war on Finland, expecting to use all of its bombers to carper bomb the defenders into oblivion.
Will it work? We may find out tomorrow...

Sep/Oct 1939, Allied Impulse #8:
A USN cruiser tries to go to Pago Pago only to be turned around by hostile natives; it sails on towards the Philippines in an attempt to seek anchorage. In the meantime, all of the slower USN ships keep getting shuffled east.

Soviet plans cloud the skies over Finland. This may or may not be the only Russian chances to break through the Mannerheim line.
P.S. 8 factors, roll of 8 - no luck at all.

In a more of a "see what I can do" move, NAT-CHI forces take over a few Japanese-held hexes in Southern China. There's no strategic impact.

I have once seen carpet bombing used very well. After few tries USSR destroyed my Japanese HQ is China, lots of units went OOS. I have heard same thing is often attempted in France against Germany during invasion.
When you take Denmark, always take northern port too. And if you want to be sure that CW is not coming, take every hex adjanced to North Sea during first impulse. You need few units to do that. CW can disembark HQ to hex it controlls and them disembark MECH and div. If you have div in northern port they can disembark to adjacent hex and attack right away.
I like to bring CW units to Denmark. And when I see that enemy has 4 units on border to prevent it I ground strike them during surprise impulse.
Following this war with interest.

Thank you for your terrific ideas! I will admit, this was my first taking of Denmark, and, me playing myself, I thought I was safe. After all, it's my standard opener to send the two strongest CW units to France, and then there aren't enough transports to ensure landing in Denmark. Except, somehow, I didn't go to France. Perhaps that's what makes MWiF unique - each game is just imperceptibly unique?

Sep/Oct 1939, End of Turn:
Germany builds 2 synthetic oil plants that are only 7 BP versus what I thought to be usual 8.
Italy - a territorial and a submarine.
Japan - a synthetic oil plant, two militias (one was free), two carrier planes (free), and a submarine.
China - an infantry and a cavalry, both red; a strong offensive against IJA is definitely on my mind.
CW build strategy is probably the most eclectic; a few ground troops to serve as ad-hoc infantry, a few planes, and an extra bomber - essentially, a bit all over the place.
France builds 3 free volunteer units and a pilot / fighter pair.
USA goes for all 3 battleships, carrier, and an amphibious unit, clearly aiming for the long-term benefit.
USSR opts for a LND4 bomber, a pilot, and a garrison.
