Well, I use something in between, that is to say, a shell script I put on the desktop. To ensure it uses the terminal environment, the 'wine' command itself must be launched as an option by the terminal emulator (like 'xterm -e') to run it.

edit: Mixed up shell interpreter and terminal emulator stuff. Only the latter seems of relevance here.
