I have tried to update, but I get an error message.

I found that windows defender was stopping the update process. Turned it off and it updated fine.

Sent an empty turn, just send it back if possible and we'll see if I can open it.

All looks good so far, let's run 10 turns or so to test it for sure if that's ok for you, then we can probably chalk it up to something being corrupted with the other games.

Problem is if it was corruption, then that is a lot of people facing that corruption issue.

Alright I think that's enough. The new game's run 11 turns with no upload or opening issues so whatever problem must be with the older games. Thanks a lot for your help DaShox. Still no luck opening our other game I'm afraid. Luckily we were only 5 turns in although it's still a pain to lose.

I went ahead and resigned it. I have learned a lot more since we started the game.

I do have 3 other game that were 1.00 version. One I have not heard anything for 2 days. One I returned this morning under version 1.0 before I got the update. So I will report back if anything progresses.

Doesnt microsoft update on Tuesdays?

I wonder if Defender got a new set of rules and somehow changed the file.

So all is working with 1.00.01 then?

I just ran tested on a double account I have and they loaded fine.
All security programs were disabled at the time.

So we lost all our games?

Edit: Alvaro you may want to upload a new “patch” ASAP to see if this will be a recurring issue.

Be sure both players have the latest update even though that shouldn't impact anything.

This error says the data was pulled and not decoded properly because the download file is not correct.
FormatException: The input is not a valid Base-64 string as it contains a non-base 64 character, more than two padding characters, or an illegal character among the padding characters.

So this isn't a data structure it's decoding from the server. Still waiting for my source to reply.


I can roll it back any game players want. I just need the ID of the game.

It's not the game. Where the error is in the decoding of the data from the server.
After that it gets put into the data structure.

Data structure errors will show

XXXXX object is missing from the stream.

The game pulls the data, unzips it, decodes it, then places it into the game. The error is the decoding part.

I don't know why I bother but I reinstalled and now I cannot even get the patch.

What is for sure is Matrix has lost me as a customer, I'll just wait for Steam or GOG from now on.
Really need to update the infrastructure.

I'm still getting the loading error for about 2 or 3 days when I try to load PBEM game.

So we have to abandon the game and restart? Is that the outcome? I read through the thread but it's not clear.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game and patching to latest version through auto-update mechanism. But it didn't help.

Yeah old games don't seem to be working at all sadly. The real issue will be if the same thing happens the next time the game gets patched.

It's not the patch itelf. Like I said give me your game ID and I can roll back the game 1 turn.

Also make sure everyone is on 1.00.01 even though it shouldn't impact things.

My source has not gotten back to me.

I am seeing other games being played through today also.
