After a bit of respite the battle commences once again...German armor are climbing the hills of the British first line, with infantry and motorcycles not far behind. This costs them 2 immobilized Stugs and 1 destroyed. A Marder is also pounded to a pulp by 40mm auto-cannon. The dam is bursting and British troops won't be able to hold for too much longer under the heavy pressure... 150mm barrage doesn't help British morale.

no sir !
i did send you a PM before some weeks because
i read that some ppl. say you are a good player.
while this game is going not so good i think ( but the
sandstorm and me advancing gives me a light excuse..)
and another one in 44 as gerry vs. brits i´m getting badly
hurt... it seems i´m a average player. mostly got draws
and 2 wins w/ the allied forces.
i will play you viking, after i finished a game, because
4 games at the same times seems to be too much
for me.....

Err you didn't send the file to my email
Hey Viking! Want to play a gamE?
Frank, its not called being average, its called being distracted by playing too many games at one time hehehe

Oh yeah, you'll learn the meaning of "slaughter" when you play against Viking he he he
You know the sneaky tank flanking/ hit&run tactics I'm using on you right now? They're a very poor poor imitation of Viking, the master flanker hehehe

mhh... i made a tactical mistake here. if i had concentrated my force on one flank there would be not that much flanking shots for you. but - of course - my massed, slow moving troops would be a even better target for your arty in this case

" oberst, i fear we lost too much tanks to succesful take the hills " huber reports to frank w.
" mhhh. i think this, too. just too much of this **** M3 LEE tanks. they are better than all we have except the STUG 3 F. what shall we do now ? we can not manouver this much because of the weather conditions. i think if this much tanks are destroyed from us we have not much support for the inf which is finally closing against even the light STUART tanks of the british. to avoid more uneccesary casualities i will call rommel and ask if we can go over to a delaying defense action. "
"good idea oberst. would be better this way for our brave men" says huber and gives the order to " go over to defensive stance if possible."

The battle rages as the Germans seem to find a renewed vigor and strength in their attack.
"Sir the Germans are climbing the northern and middle hills!"
"Halt them! Use ny means necessary!!!"
M3s and Stuarts pound away this turn, destroying a Stug f and de-crewing 2 Stug Bs. A Stuart is blown apart in this exchange and the crewmen of an M3 bails when a surprise 75mm shot blasts away their tank's turret.
"Get those crewmen back in their tanks!!! We'll need every tank we can get ahold of!"
Dam is really bursting in the middle hill, there's barely anybody there anymore, just a bunch of crewmen... the northern hills resemble craters more than hills now due to the constant 150mm and 81mm bombardment from the Germans... Lots of casualties for both sides, more understandably so for the Germans who are slugging their way in the sandstorm... which is costing them. But it seems their efforts may finally be rewarded.
"Sir! The middle hill is almost deserted! There is a thin line there held by a bunch of crewmen and some mortars! What shall we do?"
"TELL THEM TO HOLD THE LINE! We cannot afford Germans bursting through and flanking us! Tell the 2nd line to get ready... this is gonna be one bloody infantry battle."

not much news. we loose some more troops and have
now not enough tanks to continue the offense. esp.
that the brits have some 6pdr. guns and M3 tanks
in the reserve.
if you want to attack vetkin and try to get the vic hexes
i have you can do, i don´t advance any further without the
inf. in front and they are still hanging behind because of the
1 hex movement in sandstorms....

Infantry climbing the hill to the north are pushed back... A stug is de-crewed in the middle by a barrage of 37mm shells which forces the shell-shocked crew to bail.
Not much else, but the **** 150mm still pounding to the north, dangerously, as I see why, another Stug F climbing the hill towards the VHes...
I regain a VHex to the south but accompanying infantry are hurt by AA guns.
Another Stug F has climbed the middle hill...misc. crewmen are powerless to stop it.

the british and german commanders meanwhile had some talks about a ceasefire. which was accepted. both sides can now save their wounded men from the still raging sandstorm.
it´s is no rumor: the desert war was a quite "human"war and both sides treated as other with respect, mostly.
