AUGUST 2, 1940

I again forgot to take screenshots. But Vichy France is created and Italy DOWs the UK. German units are repositioned towards their next objectives.

AUGUST 16, 1940

The UK conquers Vichy Syria. In retaliation the Axis conquer Vichy France.

And Vichy North Africa. If you are thinking this all looks familiar than that is because I am pretty much following the same script as my previous AAR with Hadros. I am a good player, but not a particularly creative one. Besides, I really want to see if the Axis can be stopped when following this "cookie cutter" (I will say it before someone else does) path to Victory.

One thing that worries me is that the UK moved a fleet to Gibraltar last turn (off map); so my Italian Fleet may get a bit of a pasting.

The British East Med Fleet wasted no time in going on the offensive near Tobruk.

AUGUST 30, 1940

5 MS sunk and 3 U-Boat hits taken.

Pretty much the entire RN moves to engage the Italian Navy in the West Med. Air recon revealed that the adjacent RN only contained a CV, 2 BBs, a CA and a DD. So I used my fleets first OP to engage it, but couldn't find them. Unbelievable. After this incredible display of ineptness the Italian Navy used its second OP to run away.

The Kriegsmarine takes the opportunity to sortie into the North Atlantic.

Yugoslavia is invaded.

Libya and Egypt are quiet for now.

SEPTEMBER 13, 1940

I forgot to take screenshots. But 5 MS were sunk, Yugoslavia was conquered and Malta was placed out of supply by a sub.

SEPTEMBER 27, 1940

8 MS sunk. The Kriegsmarine moves to raid the North Atlantic Convoy lanes.

OCTOBER 11, 1940

The good news is that the Kriegsmarine sunk 8 MS. The bad news is that the RN caught the entire German Fleet in a pursuit combat in its one and only attempt. This is why I generally don't like raiding with the German main fleet. I always seem to get caught quickly.

OCTOBER 25 TO DECEMBER 20, 1940

Little action in these 5 turns except in the BOA where a total of 17 MS and an escort are sunk for a loss of just 2 U-Boats. The Kriegsmarine limped home to Germany without further interceptions after wasting a lot of oil for little gain.

The British conquer Iraq and the British unit in Malta dies of starvation. I tried to paratroop a unit into Malta but for some reason it wouldn't let me. So I had to waste 20 Italian Landing Ships.

IIRC Italy starts the 39 scenario with at least one 5 strength small corps. I usually don't repair it so it can be used as a cheap invasion that uses only 5 Landing Ships. Also the understrength unit uses less supply in Libya but that can be risky if your opponent gets frisky.
