The Axis also retreated a bit in NW Europe.

AUGUST 13, 1943

This is the best game of its genre I have ever played. But it does still have, IMHO, some flaws. One is how pathetic port supply is. For example, take the screenshot below. As you can see the Allies have captured three 9 level ports and two 2 level ports. The Allies have only 19 units in NW Europe all of which are within 3 hexes or less of a port. There are no air units stationed on the continent at all. Yet the Allies are already experiencing supply problems. Historically the Allies supported a much larger land force than this (including 1000s of aircraft based in France), much further from the ports (and without either Rotterdam or Amsterdam) and without any supply problems whatsoever.

Just one of my minor gripes.

NW Europe after my moves. Only a couple attacks were made.

Preparing for the assault on Tobruk. Note that I have move my air force to Cyprus where the supply is better.

A costly attack in Algeria gains me 1 hex.

A small advance in Finland.

All quiet in the middle of the Front.

The Russians destroyed the surrounded corps in the South.

Otherwise only one other attack in the South to push back the Romanians.

AUGUST 27, 1943

4 MS sunk, but it costs the Germans 5 U-Boat hits.

The Axis go on the Offensive in both the East and the West; destroying a Russian Armour and a US Mechanized and surrounding a Russian Mechanized and Armour.

The Russians retaliate; destroying an Italian Mechanized, Armour and Infantry Corps and Shattering a German Panzer, while freeing the trapped units.
