I too am really looking forward to the French scenarios. This is my main area of interest and I was rather afraid that there would only be a 'token couple' included so seeing the list of whats included makes me very happy indeed.
It might have been nice for a couple of the less well known actions to have been included but that really is nit picking as those of us with an interest in Indochina have been starved of games for a long time (with the honourable exception of Legion Games on the boardgame front)
Looking forward to the release
Ben

Mike and Benedict,
You will not be disappointed with the content involving the French in the early years!
Here is a quick screenshot from the Day Bataille #3...GM Counter 5/30/51.

I have been following this Forum on my Mobile where I don't have my login details saved so was never able to respond when on the road. I am really excited for this. [&o]

Here's, finally, part 2 for the CSEE Dev Diary series: Accessing Adaptive AI (redirects to CSLegion.com).
In the blog, I try to describe how Adaptive AI, first time available with CS: Middle East 2.0, has been revamped and revised for CS: Vietnam 1.0. I guess in other words, how Adaptive AI 1.0 has evolved to Adaptive AI 2.0.
I don't know many games that provides the scenario designers and modders with pretty much full access to game CRT and other percentage rolls. With CS: Vietnam 1.0, Adaptive AI is also available via CSEE Lua code, which is the real game changer here.
Totally dynamic!
Let me know what you guys think! Any questions we're happy to answer them here

Hello Ben, what smaller battles in particular would you be interested in?
Apologies missed this. Not so much 'smaller' battles but some of the more obscure ones perhaps, e.g. Operation Mouette (which features de Castries with a mobile command) and perhaps others from the Navarre Plan (but its really hard finding anything in English about them). Unless I've missed it I was a little surprised not to see anything from the 1950 RC4 campaign or the trials and tribulations of GM 100 in the highlands.
Anyhow, I am really not complaining the list of scenarios is far more extensive than I dared to hope, so 'chaparau'.
regards
Ben

There we go, then! CS: Vietnam will come out with full set of editors, with complete Orders of Battle, and excellent pre-made maps. All set for some quality community scenarios, wink wink [:D]

A general question for you, and I don't mean to be lazy, as you may have addressed this somewhere already:
1. Will/is there a place where we can see all the significant planned improvements over CSME?
2. Also, is there a book or two you can recommend to get us up-to-speed historically on the Nam prior to U.S. involvement? I would like to begin studying.
I am as excited about this game as I was about Decisive Battles: Ardennes Offensive, which I can't stop playing and modding.
(Truth is, I would buy the upcoming CS:Vietnam in a minute if there were no improvements. This game so far appears too historically rich to ignore. And I do my best to recommend both games to wargamers on Steam, etc.)

Hello Rosseau!
There will be a comprehensive What's New list on the game manual, which is mostly completed bar the final review. We try to have it out before the game releases, for everyone to have a good look as what's to come.
As for the book recommendation, for the French Indochina War, one cannot much go wrong by reading Bernard Fall's "Street Without Joy - The French Debacle in Indochina". I've got a fresh Kindle copy with a foreword from 2018 by Fredrik Lodgewall. A classic many of the US commanders made sure to study in detail upon their arrival to Vietnam.
For a more comprehensive book on Vietnam War, I guess one cannot much do wrong reading Max Hasting's "Vietnam: An Epic Tragedy 1945-1975" either. Quite new, from 2018 I believe.
That's my 0.02 anyway. I am sure Jason will chip in, I believe he has some two ship container worth of Vietnam literature alone!

I very strongly suggest Mark Moyer, 'Triumph Forsaken' if thats your interest (pre- American years.

As a starting point, I'd recommend the following:
CMH Publications:
76-1 - Deepening Involvement 1945-1964
76-2 - Buying Time 1965-1966
76-4 - Taking the Offensive 1966-1967
76-5 - Turning Point 1967-1968

For books, apart from "Street Without Joy", Martin Windrow's "The last valley: Dien Bien Phu and the French defeat in Vietnam" has an excellent introduction to the first Vietnam conflict (I'm currently re-reading it and it's by no means only about DBP).
Super excited about CS:Vietnam coming out!

Our latest Dev Diary about the Lua powered Event Engine in Campaign Series is now out.
It also discusses how playing our Vietnam game differs from previous Campaign Series games.
Vietnam war will be... different? [:)]

Providing a Lua file with battle plans and how to execute them, events, mishaps, what not, was also one of the reasons it took us so long to have the game out.
Programming and testing ca. 100 Lua files took a bit of an effort to complete and test. Hopefully it will be worth it.
Also, we are still learning about this as well, sharing and comparing our Lua notes with each other, early days still. But certainly what we have soon out is not your regular linear battles of the old.
Planting your flag, finally, on that paddy just might not cut it...
