Alrighty then.

Nice updates but hit a hard stop.

The blocking issue is I can't shoot Amraam's off Sufa's or F-15I's. I end up getting into dog fight range with Pythons. Played with altitudes but kept getting the illuminated by own radar or CEC capable radar error message where it seems it should be ok. Putting a report as I'm not sure exactly what it is (radar modes?)

Other issues.

I've been having to constantly declare Iran hostile. I tried manual and setting up a zone but there is a time gap in the cycles so its a repetitive thing. Why this matters is-contacts and targets are dropped.

Talash is straight-up broken. Wrong radars and illuminators aren't linked. Reported here:

fb.asp?m=5135033

Nice things

New air defenses are great. Lot of challenges.
Like the new setup and special action schema.
Like Iranian's at different altitudes
I always go for the extra Israeli Pegasus tankers.

Ok, the Amraam issue might be linked to the autodetection of the F-14. Seems to be buggish as it shouldn't make a difference.

Did you set these this way? If so why? More curious than anything.

Thanks!

I think this is a bug with the AIM-120C-7, at least beta .40. I setup a quick test scenario and was able to replicate it. AIM-120Ds work fine but AIM-120Cs do not. I'm going to play around with it some more on different versions and report it.

Edit: Ran it some more in .40 and the AIM-120Cs did end up being able to fire... Going to keep playing with it to find out why the message is appearing when they should be able to fire.

Do you have a save of this you can share? I haven't seen that happening at all. There's no event that should be doing that.

As a side note, Iran is intentionally set to unfriendly. I wanted to let the player decide when to start hostilities. It's not so much of a problem when playing as Israel, but when playing testing as the US, the carrier CAP had a tendency to kick things of immediately by going after the southern Iranian CAP if they where set to hostile from the start.

Didn't notice that. I'll go ahead and remove them and replace them with an equivalent until they get fixed.

I do. Take a look at the attached file. I've got 7 more save files if you'd like them. It was 7MB so will have to host somewhere. Let me know.

I set up a zone to keep declaring them hostile so I wouldn't have to keep manually doing it.

Thanks Myk. I see whats going on for both issues.

For the AMRAAMs it appears all the Iranian aircraft are set to be autodetectable and that's messing with the ability to fire. As a quick test I turned it off for a few of the F-14s, once the OODA loop timer expired the F-15 and F-16s both automatically engaged with AMRAAMs. I used a script to set all of a sides units to autodetectable for the Iranian SAMs but there's no exception for aircraft. *facepalm*

For hostilities I accidentally unchecked collective responsibility. No idea how that got unchecked, I made no changes to sides in this version.

I'll work up a fixed version later this evening before I get sucked back into the Distant Worlds 2 beta.

Other then a family breakfast Saturday morning and a few chores around the house it's the only thing I did all weekend. Been a long time since I started playing a game in the morning and next thing I know it was late afternoon.

Kushan groans in frustration

Kushan opens script file and sees a fat fingered ) where there obviously shouldn't be one

Kushan deletes uneeded ) while groaning louder in frustration.

Fix posted to first thread. Sorry about that.

No worries, that is what the testing process is for. Just think about the poor dudes working the guard towers!

The scenario is probably the best Iran scenario I've seen and there are tons. Keep up the good work!

BTW Popeyes suck. Leaving those in the 90s. Will just go with Spice next time.[8D]

I put in a request to replace the Popeye loadout Sparrows with Amraams. This is likely a copy-over error. This is the only Sufa loadout with Sparrows and everything else use Amraam.

Thanks Myk. Happy you're enjoying it! Your feedback has been really helpful.

As for the Popeyes, agreed, they're not great. Since Israeli subs in the Gulf do get mentioned in a few of the articles I've found on potential Israel strike options I thought about adding a Dolphin II into the Gulf. Unfortunately the only SLCM variant of the Popeye in the DB is nuclear. I did some research and couldn't find any hard evidence a conventional variant exists. Might be an interesting option but not like there's a shortage of those the player can try as is.

Re: Iran Strike, 2022 (Updated 8-28-2022)

Post by Kushan04 »

Just posted a new update! Started out as a simple update to the scenario for Tiny and kind of expanded in scope from there.

Update 8/28/2022:
• Updated scenario to DB495.
• Added USAF Only Strike Option.
○ Removes USN CSG. Four DDGs still available for use.
○ Allows additional USAF fighter squadron deployments.
○ Deploying more then five USAF squadrons has a chance to alert Iran.
• Added Request for Reinforcements special action.
○ Allows a random number of additional USAF fighter squadron deployments. Between 5-8 squadrons total.
○ Random chance for deployment of USS Abraham Lincoln alongside the USS Harry S. Truman.
○ Deploying more then five USAF squadrons has a chance to alert Iran.
• Added Expeditionary Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 135.
• Added inter-Iran Civilian air traffic.
• Added/Adjusted possible USAF fighter squadron deployments.
• Adjusted basing for USAF fighters, split between Al Dhafra and Prince Sultan Air Bases.
• Adjusted Iran air defense events. Should no longer be possible to get an uncontested strike when playing as the United States.
• Adjusted various events randomization.
• Adjusted Iran WRA for Tiny beta patch.
• Removed Iran Strike, 2025 special action. 2025 option will be spun off as a separate scenario.

I haven't had a chance to play this yet, but I looked at the Lua and your implementation of it is awesome!

Thanks. I'm really happy with how it turned out, although I think I may have gone a little overboard with the special actions.
