Game Set-Up
We agreed quickly on which optionals to use and even more important, which not.
I was happy to get to play the Axis in the first game, as the handling of convoys and resource routing by
MWIF is still a mystery for me.
Using
https://www.pbegames.com/roller/ as external dice roller is convenient. Filling in Ronnie's spreadsheets after each impulse can be tiring at times, but it helps me a lot to undestand the game better and to hopefully learn faster from my mistakes.

As Germany I put all forces in the East, except minimum forces to screen the French border, HQA Rundstedt to potentially reorg reserve units and the minimum number of forces to occupy Denmark and all of its coast. German groundstrikes were succesful, all four land combats were succesful (okay, three of them were automatic), it felt like a good start.
As Japan I took a combined in order to bring more land units to China. Italy was waiting for a good opportunity and stayed neutral for the time being.

The second impulse saw the Allies using their surprise with mixed results. While the port attack yielded only minimum damage and the raid into the Baltic no losses at all, the strategic bombing was a blow. Fortunately the groundstrike had no success either.
But have a closer look at the suicidal attack of the Polish airforce on German units within fighter cover: The outclassed Polish FTR (fighting at +3AX/-2AL) managed to abort one superior German Me-109 and even to destroy the other one, while escorting successfully the Polish bomber to its target. Here starts a develoment, which will repeat itself all the time over the next 10 turns. Inferior Allied fighters reliably and repeatable beat all odds, downing superior Axis fighters and pilots, driving me almost insane ...

Arguably the most important die roll of the game coming up: Weather in 2nd impulse pair is fine!

Denmark is conquered as scheduled and Poznan is taken without a loss.

SOV has all available forces near the Rumanian border. I have to allow the claim, reluctantly. The WAllies fail at all kind of strategic warfare, be it naval searches in the Baltic, port attack in Kiel or stratbombing.

The second most important die roll in the game: Will I get a 3rd impulse with fine weather in a row? I think, this is needed for an Axis victory ... Aaargh, rain!

This has severe consequences, not only for this impulse and turn, but the whole rest of the game ... The rain lowers the attack odds on both land combats just so, that there are losses, which would not have happened in regular fine weather. GER loses its ENG in Warsaw. This extremely valuable unit takes 5 turns to produce and will be sorely missed during Fall Gelb.
I think the weather roll was a 7, not a 4 as shown in the log.

CW tries again to portstrike the KM in Kiel. GAdm Raeder is handing out lots of Ritterkreuze to the navy's AA crews ...

The weather is nice again and consequently both attacks by JPN in China are succesful. But the turn ends unexpectedly already, after just 4 impulses.
