I have both! Yes GD has more space BUT I liked dropbox because it required no actions on my part. you have a directory with all your files and they get automatically saved, so Dropbox is great for disaster prevention...
? This is my experience with Google Drive as well. You map to a folder on your computer and then carry on as normal.

Again when it comes to software development it’s not about back ups or making copies of files, it’s al about putting the project under source control on a secure server. Plain and simple.

100%. There are a ton of excellent reasons to do this and no reasons not too. In the old days the tools sucked enough that sometimes it wasn't worth it for an individual project. But even then that was rare. Those days are long gone.
