PHILIPPINES:


First: For some reason lot of best US fighter pilots in P-40 units are set inactive. Set them active in unit pilot list immediately. You can send some less experienced pilots to general reserve if you have excess.

- you have B-17s, they are pretty good for Naval Search, just horrible Service Rating, so won't fly that much. They also have long range, so you can save them for later use by evacuating them to Australia after you have political points to buy them out.

- when you run out of fighters (you will), don't forget to send now experienced pilots to General Reserve pool.

- send CA Houston and CL Boise to Balikpapan or Soerabaja right away. There is IJN carrier TF around and heavy units have no business around Philippines this time.

- submarines, lots of them. Deploy them around Philippines. S-boats even have good torpedoes and even with others you can often get lucky. Don't leave them to port to be killed.

- deploy light surface units and torpedo boats to bases NW of Luzon. Might cause some trouble for IJN landings and are expendable.

- dig in in Bataan, Clark and Manila.

MALAYA:

Malaya will be textbook example of "Brave Sir Robin", infamous WitP-AE strategy of....well...running away!

All units will be withdrawn into or next to Singapore, both land and air units. Capital ships will be sent away (PoW and Repulse are damaged anyway). Problem is that closest Shipyards able to fit PoW and Repulse are Colombo, Cape Town or Pearl Harbor...so that kind of narrows it down. I am not too sure how safe Colombo will be, so might have to send them to Cape Town.

I will send some supply from Batavia to Singapore. I'd also love to replace Percival as CO of Malaya Army, but his cost is 150 PP... I have now exactly 1PP and I have 2 AUS brigades to "buy out" in near future...

Good thing is, I have Air HQ(s) in Singapore, so Wildebeests and Swordfishes will be able to fly with torpedoes.

Basically, I'll bring everyone south and all units will prepare for Singapore. Also, fortifications will be built as much as possible.

About using Seattle as your port for supporting NorPac ... some suggestions
- Japanese subs often stake out the strait leading out of Seattle and Vancouver. With their Glen FPs they can stay in deep water and still spot the convoys in time to intercept them.
- Vancouver starts as a bigger port than Seattle - a bit faster loading and it will draw supplies and fuel just as well as Seattle after the first week of game time
- Prince Rupert is a great alternative port to dodge most of the subs. You can move all of the inland Canadian BFs (except the "Canada" one that is needed for aircraft training) there and even a Brigade or two and build it big. It is a day or two shorter sailing time than Seattle/Vancouver. I even used Stranraer patrol planes to move the BF from the island off Prince Rupert (Alliford Bay?) back to Prince Rupert.

Both Seattle and Vancouver are "bottled up", but there will be so many ASW ships and lots of Air ASW available, that I welcome IJN to send subs there.

There won't be that much need for supplies that alternative Prince Rupert cannot handle it.

INDIA & BURMA:

India is strategically very important area and will be defended rigorously.

Fuel for industry will be organized by CS- (Continuous Supply) tanker convoys from Abadan to Karachi.

Troops, ships and air units will arrive to Aden, Mombasa and Cape Town. They will be shipped to Bombay or Cochin mostly.

Ceylon will get 2 additional brigades ASAP, 18th UK Division is rerouted to Chittagong to help with main defensive line.

There are several places that require garrison in India, so have to keep an eye on that too.

Burma will be another fighting withdrawal.

CHINA:

In China, we will be mostly in defensive, apart from few cities that are possible to capture. Supply situation will be bad throughout war.

North China is even worse with supply than South China. There are some bases that can be captured that produce supply, but IJ AI usually responds with overwhelming force...

Some air units are swapped around..these are not very good and fly obsolete planes, but with time, they become decent.

That is pretty much it for first real turn. I will switch to 2-day turns from now on, thus I won't be able to react as quickly to events.

Now just have to wait for Political Points to accumulate. I have desperate need to both replace bad leaders and free restricted units.

I have to soon decide how much I want/need to commit in places that can be overwhelmed by Japanese. E.g. Port Moresby and Darwin. Decision with both need to be made within end of December latest, probably earlier.

In past, I have reinforced PM with both 5th and 8th AUS divisions plus some assorted stuff. We'll see if AI lets me do that this time.

In addition, I only have to worry about Aleutians, Midway, Johnston I., Palmyra, Christmas I., Canton I., Samoa, Pago Pago, Suva and whole New Caledonia with sparse reinforcements in near future.

Next turn decisions will go clockwise as usual. I like to issue orders generally in somewhat orderly and similar fashion every turn:

1. Pearl Harbor, Central Pacific (and sorting out arrivals via Operations report)
2. Submarines
3. North Pacific, Canada, West Coast
4. New Zealand and South Pacific
5. Australia and Papua-New Guinea
6. Dutch East India
7. Malaya,
8. Burma, India

When doing things constantly with same routine, it helps to spot if I have forgotten something. Of course, sometimes I jump straight into some elaborate operation like amphibious invasion, but that is not yet relevant.

And when I lose DEI, Malaya and Burma, things get easier to handle...

For starters, I have to deal with this possible threat:

First fuel convoy is set to load in Los Angeles, destination Auckland. This is bit risky, since it'll sail unescorted and losses would be difficult to replace in near future.

It has waypoint hopefully to keep it clear from IJN and one AO to refuel (tankers cannot do refueling with their fuel cargo, AO can). Even though range is red, that'd be unrefueled 2-way trip. It'd make it even without AO, but just in case.

There was just minor adjustments made, air unit missions, recombining, basically administrative duties.

So, let slip the dogs of war!

For starters, BB California is scuttled. Firefighting efforts proved ineffective, so ship was scuttled.
