It would be a shame to see no more new scenarios for such a superb engine, but then I understand it is a business decision and this is not a AAA title.
I once saw an article (researched) that our wargaming niche has not been dying, but that it was simply PC games outside our niche were growing at a much faster rate. Ultimately, people will chose to invest in what gives the best returns. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as I don't think this specific niche is populated by greedy idiots.
But I do worry that smart phones and tick tock has produce young people who lack the attention and focus to learn and play a game such as this. Of course, this is a far more grave problem for society than WITE-2 sales figures.
Well, Joel, I am still hoping for more content. I will be playing this until my final days (and WITW).
Thank you and the rest of 2by3; staff and volunteers!

I agree this game has great rewards, but they require a large investment up front of patience, time and study. (This is why it took me two years to actually get around to learning and playing it after purchase.) In this day we order food at one window and it is ready by time we pull up to the next. This is a great game, but will probably only appeal to those mature enough to appreciate the benefits of delaying gratification. This group is probably older (age 55+), but often have more time and money to spend.
I for one would pay a small monthly subscription fee to keep someone developing this game. You could have him just comb the "Feature Suggestions" forum and add add all the good ones. That would keep him plenty busy.

I would pay monthly also. If it wasn't enough work for them we could expand to "significant" enhancements like open up the map, western Europe & North Africa. It would have to get supervised by Joel or someone designated by him, and it should include testing. If they got 500 people contributing $10 month that would be 5K a month, not too shabby.

Myself, I don't I want to go for something that looks like a subscription model.
We have seen the cost of games skyrocket with leasing vs sales, DLCs (which withheld features, fix bugs, nickle and dime), and ingame micro-transactions. I don't know what 2by3's official relationship is with Slitherine (Matrix only exists as branding these days; and it not clear if 2by3 is also a brand or legally independent entity. So, I would be concerned with subscription as it might encourage Slitherine down the path of the likes of PDS. To this point, their pricing is fair and you do get ownership of the software.
Given 2by3's reputation, I would be willing to pre-order another scenario pack if announced. Essentially, that is what you are proposing ... paying upfront. This might be better than hiring an employee based on subscriptions. You draw up a contract for the particular product. 2by3 is not saddled with all that comes with hiring another staff member and possibly discharging them later.

Joel,
I think this is the longest this title has gone without a public beta since release.
What's up?
Thanks.

Waiting for the scenario changes to go with the OB changes (major overhaul of the ob file) and map changes (minor changes). Since the OB file was redone, all the scenarios have to be adjusted. That takes time. It doesn't make sense to release it until all the scenarios have been modified. Once they're all modified, we'll have to do some internal testing before releasing to the public.
