Pez,
I've got you on my list, though apparently you haven't 'accepted' me or something like that. Screen name is 'tdybr'. My number is in my profile here.
Lobsteve.

OK, round one looks like this (as a refresher):
Firestorm vs. Ducados
Taren vs Coyote
Peztor vs Lobsteve
PC vs Rosary
Perhaps it would be wiser to match Ducados vs Peztor as they both come from the same timezone of lovely spain ? Wow, two players from spain ! Perhaps you should consider playing a 4 game Spain vs USA match.

Heheh, that's not fair Eric.
He's right. All jocks must fight. Teams should be verified for legality at the *end* of the battle, or the host will have an unfair advantage. In WS, special squads will show the values of MONEY and SKILL used to create the squad, which is very handy for that kind of verification.

What does "starting skills" mean? 2500 instead of the default 300 in every category?
What about titans? Can I use mines? Or only standard ones?
Yes, it's my first tournament

Yes, 2500 instead of the default 300. You can use up to 4 titans of any kind you want, as long as the total weighs 500 tons or less.
Okay, Rosary and Iceman, please explain to me why it matters that all jocks fight? I can see why it would matter with a regular team, since you could give some really high business and/or repair and/or leadership and then keep them out of the battles so you always get the benefit of those skills, but what does it matter when you're using a tourney team that is never updated? If you waste your starting money on a jock that isn't going to fight, all you're doing is hurting yourself. You can't put more than 4 on the field, and if you put less, you're just giving yourself a handicap. If you make more than 4 jocks, one of them is completely useless.

How does the program know that it is a tourney team so it's not updated? It's enough with the special "jocks" MONEY and SKILLS?

Peztor, as soon as you enter MONEY and/or SKILL, the hq will tag the team as special.
Michael, for 25k, hire the first jock and set his leadership and business to 90. This guy stays home. The next 4 will not have to waste ODPs on either leadership or business, and will get the full advantages of being hired by a leader with 90% leadership. They'll have better other skills and/or attributes. Those 25k you lose are worth it - 1.5 mill, isn't it, initial funds?
Notice that this doesn't work for a custom team.

Ah, I see. Yeah, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining. I might've thought of it eventually, but...

The Wargamer is going to be setting up some Ladders and offering tournaments for Titans of Steel Warring Suns. I would expect something to be announced in the next two weeks.

You have something of a point. However, notice this: my rules say "No more than 4 JOCKS" not "No more than 4 TITANS". Thus, you can't hire one with 90 busness/leadership and then hire four more, as then you would have 5 jocks.
And hmm. I suppose that would work. OK, Peztor and Ducados are paired up now, and I'll go against Lobsteve. when can I catch you on?

I won my match against Coyote. I got lucky early on with some cover, and his team seemed to be plagued by some bad luck.

"Bad luck" hardly begins to describe it. My jocks were more dangerous to themselves and each other than to the enemy. They probably wouldn't have been able to simply walk across the map without blowing up their engines. And that was when we had the game working...

Well, 1.5 mill is enough to buy you 3 assaults with business 90%. And nothing stops you from hiring 5 jocks and then dismiss the 1st.

With max tonnage of 500, though, you couldn't use three assaults. I still see your point, however.

I only said it's enough to *buy* 3 assaults. There's no limit on the number of titans your team can have

when i was building my team, i found $1.5 million to be more than enough for what i needed. in fact, my team has enough left over to buy an extra assault, if i wanted too. i only used just under $1 million.

Post your team, I'm sure we all curious.

I, too, found 1.5 mil to be more than enough. Though, I didn't have as much left as Firestorm.
