Any idea when this CGW makes it to Europe? Or is it PC Gamer or soemthing similar here. I'd like to support them after all - and have something else to read whilst I am waiting for the game (apart from the excellent postings and WAR site)

EB near me says it will be in today! So I'm stopping at Costco and picking up the big can of coffee and getting my office ready for late night action!
A big
THANKS to everyone involved in this project as I will now be able to fully recover from the withdrawal pain and agony I've been experiencing from my hobby due to the lack of new/quality games.
I can now put the TOAW disk back in the jewel case! Whoo hooo!
Great job Matrix!
Now, if we can only get Combat Leader out the door.............................

"...Korsun Pocket, Decisive Battles of World War II which is not only a deep and involving RTS title, but resembles more of a board game format rather than your traditional RTS title."
Well, that's an interesting description. Or is there some other term for RTS other than Real Time Strategy that I'm not aware of?
Well, important thing is that he liked the game. I'm curious as to how he managed to play it in real time though.

That is an incredible score for a wargame. That review caught my eye, and now I'm thinking of purchasing Korsun Pocket.
Emperor of the Fading Suns, my favorite wargame to date, got a 6.5 from them.
Must be one great game wargame to recieve a score like that from Gamespot.

I agree Matrix have played a very key roll in getting this game out the door and 'onto the shelves' so to speak.
But a REALLY BIG CONGRATS and thank you needs to go to SSG, which I am sure everyone will agree - including Matrix - for actually making this fine product!!
I personally know about all of the hardwork that SSG have put into developing this product - and I can tell you that it was made on "blood sweat and tears".. and Im sure that if you look under the hood of this game you will find each member of SSG has left a part of their DNA behind on it.. thats how much they made this game a part of their lives. Be it from concept, design, research, art, code, AI, and testing. Its been a job well done.
Whilst Matrix is the face of this product because they have done a fine job distributing and publishing the title, I dont want the main reason for this game and its hours of enjoyment to go unnoticed.
Thanks SSG - you sure have delivered - and on behalf of not only Chris and myself from Wacht am Rhein, Im sure I speak for many others!
Well done! Keep up the good work and please note your hard work and dedication hasnt gone unnoticed - even though the accolades sometimes appear to over look you.
Korsun Pocket - An SSG game.

FWIW - one thing to remember when people say "A score like that from Gamespot" is that most reviews such as that one are written by freelancers. For example, I write for Computer Gaming World, Computer Games Magazine, Gamespot, and Gamespy. So any single review is the opinion of that particular writer - had someone else reviewed Korsun Pocket, it may have gotten a lower score (but not if anyone with a wargaming background had written it.

) or a higher score. Point is that it's hard to lump all reviews in a site into one generalization - they're made up of a bunch of individual writers with very different backgrounds and tastes.
That said - it IS hard to get a score much higher than that for a wargame - scores in the 9.0+ range are typically held for games such as Half Life or GTA:Vice City, etc.

We´re proud to annouce that Korsun Pocket won another award.
In a recent review at
icronticgames.com Korsun Pocket achieves 84% winning the Silver Award.
"It is probably THE best hex strategy game out to date though, and indeed possibly one of the best single campaign one too. If you like true-to-life, historical battles or are an avid strategist there’s only one thing left to say… Why are you still here reading this review?… you should be on the way out to buy this game!!"

Marc I agree entirely with this review - KP is indeed one of the best wargames I have ever played.
Having said that though, I find the amount of duifficulties reported on the error forum to be distressing. Being one of those fortunate people that had the pleasure of testing the game and also not have suffered any significant problem, it would be welcome to be assured that the Matrix staff not only have this/these problems in hand, but will be posting shortly on the error forum to alleviate some of our new freind's concerns.

Congratulations!
Even a newbie wargamer like myself loves this game
(I own about 300 games and this one shines in terms of game play)
In fact this is the first war game that I consider very accessible and challenging!!
Well done, really well done

Allways great to hear about fresh (and enthusiastic) blood in the Wargaming community. Welcome aboard. Yep, some games can be really demanding, but they also offer a great gaming experience for most of the time.
Have fun.
