Germany Invades Poland.
UK and French Governments Issue Ultimatum, "Pull all German Forces Out in 48 hours or It's War."
An ultimatum has been issued. What will the response be? Will peace hold out? Or will the world be plunged into yet another great war? Will USA stay neutral this time around? Will Sweden? And whatabout Spain? Ohh... And USSR... they support Germany in this conflict. This can be a bloody close run thing if it goes to war. Lets all pray that the sane minds prevails, and that peace will return to Europe.
Seems like only yesterday when PM Chamberlain boldly declared (predicted), "Peace in Our Time".

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Allied #3.
Commonwealth & France declared war on Germany.
This morning the British Ambassador in Berlin handed the German Government a final Note stating that, unless we heard from them by 11 o'clock that they were prepared at once to withdraw their troops from Poland, a state of war would exist between us. I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received, and that consequently this country is at war with Germany.

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Allied #2. Naval Combat.
Baltic Sea.
(1) My first of many tactical errors to come this game.
(2) POL CA takes the surprise away so Germany may react their Naval Air to the Baltic.
(3) French Sub Gp[2] flips to search.
(4) Will Germany react their He 115c?

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Allied #2. Naval Combat.
Baltic (Concluded).
(1) French commit subs.
(2) Only the search by the Allied side in Baltic Sea was successful. Axis rolled 3; Allied rolled 1.
(3) Submarine combat, 6 surprise points (allied), used to increase KM CP loss from D,3A (1 sunk, 3 aborted) to X,D,3A (3 sunk, 1 aborted of 4 CPs present)
(4) 3 CPs sunk, 1 aborted. Abort to Stettin.
(5) Lesson learned. Poland at war with Germany removes CW/French surprise! Rookie Mistake on my part.
(6) The Polish Navy claims a great victory in the Baltic over the KM.
(7) While Western Newspapers gladly print the story of the "heroic" Polish navy, historians years for now will write the true history that it was French subs that inflicted the losses.
(8) And that the Polish navy almost snatched defeat from victory by getting in the way!

POL P-23 (unescorted) -> Poznan (3-stack). Bf 109 E-2 intercepts.
Axis units fire on Allied units.

Only one unit to choose: P.23 Karas.
Allied units fire on Axis units.
Die roll was 8. AC was the result.

No Axis bomber present to clear through.

(2/3). Remagen, Germany.
(surprise) FR LeO vs von Bock, Eng Div (Remagen). KEEP THAT BRIDGE INTACT! The allies will need it in 1945 to cross the Rhine.
I think I just hit my second tactical error of this game.
French surprise ground strike (XR) vs von Leeb & 1st eng div. Do you wish to fire AA -
[ax] Yes Please.
Don't see why you wouldn't as the LeO451 after XR & vs woods is only attacking with 1 TAC factor.
[ax] Leo shouldn't be XR
Ok, you're correct.
Was going to originally fly him against Rundstedt.
So there's still hope, but need a one out of 6 dice.
AA Fire = 7 1 7 3 8 2 -> 1. 3 bombs reduced to 2 and then halved to 1 due to woods.
FR LeO misses von Bock & Eng Div.
On the upside for the FR LeO (if there is one), they would have missed even without the AA fire.

(3/3) vs Rundstedt.
(surprise) RAF Hampden XR vs Rundstent.
3 bombs quartered to 1 due to XR & woods.
Hampden gets Rundstedt.
